Job Title: Director, Operations

Job Summary

The Director, Operations is a hands-on role responsible for managing the company’s day-to-day operational activities. This position focuses on tactical execution, ensuring compliance with federal contracting requirements, optimizing workflows, and supporting efficient resource allocation. The Director will work closely with department leads, oversee operational processes, and ensure the seamless delivery of services to clients.

Key Responsibilities

Tactical Execution and Day-to-Day Operations

  • Oversee and manage the daily operational activities across all departments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and federal contracting requirements.
  • Own delivery of federal contracts ensuring programs are executed as contracted and meet the company’s project delivery goals.
  • Oversee resource allocation and capacity planning to support ongoing projects and client needs.
  • Implement and ensure adherence to operational policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
  • Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and budgets to ensure successful execution of all federal contracts.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for operational and project challenges, providing timely solutions to maintain project momentum.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, CMMI, DCAA, and other federal regulations.
  • Track and manage risks associated with ongoing operations, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with Contracts Management and HR to ensure audit readiness and compliance with all contractual and organizational obligations.
  • Ensure that compliance is met for all contracts while performing to both external SLAs and internal OKRs.

Team Leadership and Coordination

  • Lead the PMO and other operational teams, providing guidance and support in executing daily tasks.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement within operational teams and across the company as a whole. Holding accountability and feedback conversations with employees, contractors, and vendors when needed. Develop and oversee Personnel Improvement Plans when required.
  • Coordinate cross-departmental collaboration to resolve bottlenecks and drive efficiency.

Tools and Resource Management

  • Ensure effective use of tools such as ClickUp, SharePoint, and Jira for project tracking, reporting, and collaboration.
  • Maintain consistency in documentation, templates, and reporting processes to streamline operations.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and business efficiencies. Implement enhancements to tools and workflows when needed.

Vendor and Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and service providers, ensuring seamless delivery of services.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and operational teams to ensure alignment on project goals and expectations.
  • Support proposal development and contract execution by providing operational input and resources.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in operational management, within the federal government contracting space.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations such as FAR, DFARS, and DCAA.
  • Hands-on experience with operational tools such as ClickUp, SharePoint, and project management software.
  • Proven ability to manage day-to-day operations in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
