The Role: The Engineering Manager (chemical engineering) is primarily focused on employee expectations. Responsible for managing personnel, employee’s deliverables, and execution of department goals. Manages and directs the daily work of their team to ensure on-time quality of customer requirements and achievement of business goals. Develops strategic direction for the team by collaborating with Senior Leaders.

Develops strategic direction for the team by collaborating with Senior Leaders.
Responsibilities
- Leads teams through engagement, performance, and goals.
- Drives organizational strategy and manages business results.
- Maintains performance mgt responsibilities for employees under purview and identifies staffing and organizational structure needs, coaching/mentoring, employee relations and promotional decisions; implement changes as directed. May be a technical resource for others.
- General understanding of business acumen.
- May have budget responsibilities.
- Has full authority for personnel actions and will need extensive knowledge of department processes.
- Sets dept goals and objectives, ensures employees understand their role and monitor results/effectiveness, expense and budgets.
- Establishes and monitors procedures for processing development work in support of strategic initiatives.
- Provide technical support to customers and colleagues, answering inquiries and troubleshooting issues
- Stay up to date with industry developments and trends to provide expert technical advice
- Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures in the design and operation of chemical processes
- Develop and implement plans to minimize the environmental impact of chemical processes
- Participate in audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Strategic Vision and Foresight: Senior professionals should have the ability to develop and communicate a clear vision for the future, anticipate trends, and prepare the organization to adapt to changes. This involves understanding the broader industry context and aligning team efforts with long-term objectives.
- Mentorship and Talent Development: They should actively mentor junior colleagues, helping to shape the next generation of leaders. This includes sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and supporting career development opportunities for their teams.
- Influential Leadership: Senior professionals must be able to influence and inspire others, both within and outside the organization. This requires strong communication skills, credibility, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field with at least 5 years experience or equivalent work experience that provides exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts. Master's degree is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with developing teams and a basic understanding of financial principles.
- Twenty to thirty percent travel can be expected. The team being managed is primarily located in Fredericton, Canada and Acworth, Georgia.
