We are seeking a VP, Creative and Content to join our organization and enhance our ability to authentically tell the story of the ACS mission, demonstrating our impact in the world. This role will report directly into the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and will sit on the Marketing Senior Leadership Team.

Working in partnership with the CMO, this role will require a successful candidate to lead a team of creatives to develop the enterprise-wide creative strategy and execution plan that utilizes both internal creative resources and strategic external agencies/partners. This creative leader will build the ACS brand and bring our story to life to help drive brand and revenue growth. The candidate will work with our Marketing team to collaborate across our four pillars of patient support services, advocacy, discovery/research, and development/fundraising. A successful candidate will thoughtfully manage resources and be the key creative leader providing oversight and inspiration to the internal creative teams and external agencies to ensure high-quality brand impact and effective messaging across all external touchpoints.

This role will also oversee the ACS visual identity and its implementation across all creative and content for the ACS brand and sub-brands.

***This is a remote position that can be home based anywhere within the United States.***

Major Responsibilities

The VP Creative and Content will be the key leader of all creative and content development for the American Cancer Society. This person should have experience in building high performing creative teams spanning concepting, production, execution, and distribution. They should have a high level of EQ in managing both internal and external creative resources. This person should be able to effectively communicate their creative vision across throughout the organization that drives the most impact to the American Cancer Society.

The key responsibilities are:

  • Develop and execute a holistic creative strategy and execution approach, utilizing digital and video first content across our multiple audience journeys that elevates the ACS brand and drives impact.
  • Develop and deploy a creative development process that utilizes best in class techniques to maximize capacity and utilization of creative resources.
  • Collaborate with key marketing and development revenue owners using authentic storytelling that drives revenue and volunteer growth.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Strategy and Go to Market teams to develop creative strategies across our 4mission pillars: patient support services, advocacy, discovery/research, and development that improves our ability to communicate our mission and increase our lives touched footprint across those people impacted by cancer.
  • Oversee the ACS visual identity, in collaboration with the brand team and its implementation across all creative and content for the core brand and sub-brands.
  • Lead the development of creative concepts and key visuals around critical campaigns. Oversee the execution of campaigns and deliver video, art/graphic, and writing/copywriting executions that deliver upon approved concepts.
  • Deliver consistent content across the key media distribution channels utilizing the most current growth and performance marketing tactics including linear TV, CTV, digital, social media, direct mail, promotional, experiential events, and other emerging areas.
  • Build a video first content team and build production capabilities within the internal team.
  • Translate business needs/objectives into creative brand strategies expressed through impactful creative content across all pillars and sub brands ensuring brand integrity, stakeholder feedback and approval as needed throughout the development process.
  • Lead resource management including the assessment and prioritization of work, building metrics around capacity, utilization, and workflow management (in conjunction with the marketing project management team).

Knowledge/Skills

FORMAL KNOWLEDGE

We are looking to talk with candidates with:

  • We are seeking candidates with: Minimum of 15+ years leadership experience creating breakthrough marketing campaigns with proven in-market impact agency, media and advertising experience.
  • Experience in leading large , multi-discipline creative teams with diverse perspectives represented. Non-profit experience is a plus.

  • Able to hold themselves accountable. Strategically minded. Highly collaborative, within Marketing and across ACS; builds strong partnerships and is seen as a valued partner.

SPECIAL MENTAL OR PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While travel is not a constant requirement of the role, any successful candidate should be okay with traveling on a need-by-need basis. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. No or very limited physical effort required.

The starting rate is $184,000 to $230,000 annual. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
