Position Summary
We are currently looking to hire and train an individual as an Insolvency Counsellor to join our dynamic counselling team. The ideal candidate for this role will have strong communication skills and positive attitude with a passion for helping others. The ability to provide our debtors with empathy, compassion, and exceptional client service. No previous insolvency experience required, just a “can do” attitude and willingness to learn, we will provide you with the comprehensive education and training to prepare you for a fulfilling role in helping people regain a healthy relationship with money by developing healthy budgeting tools and assisting in the development of short- and long-term financial goals. The successful candidate will work remotely but will be an important part of our centralized counselling team.
Responsibilities
Training Will Include Observation Of Counselling Sessions And Enrolment In The Practical Course On Insolvency Counselling Offered Though The Canadian Association Of Insolvency And Restructuring Professionals. This Is An Online Course That Consists Of 4 Modules

Responsibilities
- Assess debtors’ budget plans and financial goals
- Deliver an excellent and empathetic experience to those in financial difficulty
- Complete counselling sessions by telephone, video and in person when required
- Travel to other offices to meet with clients, if required
- Successful completion of either a high school diploma or a high school equivalency certificate
- Minimum of 30 credit hours of post-secondary study completed in either a diploma or degree program
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to relate with clients and liaise with team members
- Strong attention to detail
- High computer literacy including the ability to learn new programs and previous experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams)
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to compose various documents and speak effectively with clients, staff, and other third parties

- Personal insolvency/bankruptcy under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act
- Interviewing and counselling
