About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage all activities related to logistics of the air and ground charters, camp operation, bunkhousing, and housing facilities.
  • Oversee camp services contract (catering, housekeeping, and janitorial).
  • Coordinate with our employees and contractors to maintain a safe work environment and meet all workplace regulations.
  • Review and assist in administering logistics contracts to ensure our partners are meeting the demands of the business and adhering to the outlined terms.
  • Participate in the tendering process to ensure business needs will be met.
  • Participate in and lead Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Communicate and update policies and procedures required for an effective logistics operation.
  • Develop, implement, track, and improve key performance metrics consistent with business objectives.
  • Review all reports for discrepancies and trends and rectify outstanding items or escalate them to management.
  • Conduct regular bunkhouse/kitchen walkthroughs and inspections.
  • Participate in the budgetary process.
  • Review, maintain, and track budgetary items on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Supervise the production of quarterly reports pertaining to accommodation and flight forecasting and planning.
  • Work collaboratively with all departments and maintain positive relationships with external contractors.
  • Work in collaboration with the Site Services team to ensure maintenance issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Perform any additional duties related to the logistical operations for the Island Gold District.

Supervision of the Logistics department Reservation Agents & Logistics Coordinators:

  • Provide assistance to the Logistics Manager in the hiring of Logistics employees
  • Provide employees with clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required
  • Ensure that training is provided in accordance with the future needs of direct reports
  • Conduct performance reviews, assist in goal setting, and provide feedback to direct reports
  • Review and approve all timesheet related entries and requests
  • Provide leadership to the team
  • Promote and maintain a high-performance and high customer service culture
  • Other duties as required.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications And Experience

  • 5+yrs remote camp, hotel or restaurant management experience is an asset.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field is preferred
  • Knowledge of mining camp operations is an asset.
  • Self-starter who can anticipate needs and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, growing work environment.
  • The individual should have demonstrated a high-level of energy, self-motivation and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills together with an ability to facilitate commitment to a cooperative team effort.
  • Skilled in identifying areas of deficiency, benchmarking performance, and implementing operational standards that ultimately elevate the efficiency and profitability of your area.
  • Competent in analyzing trends & determining appropriate action to be taken.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel.

Working Conditions/Rotation

  • The schedule is for a remote position on a 7x7 rotation with company charter flights available from Toronto & Sudbury, ON, as well as Rouyn-Noranda, QC.
  • This position is within a dynamic and high-pressure environment and will require a candidate that can maintain and adapt to changing priorities to fit business needs.
