We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to play a key role in our finance team and in the business transformation of the Organization. This is an 18-month, full-time, contract position with the possibility of an extension.
Our Ideal Candidate… will have strong technical and analytical skills in both accounting and financial modelling. This is a key role on our Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team, responsible for financial services to some of our key operating units. Responsibilities will include day-to-day operations such as invoicing and collections, monthly processes including revenue recognition and review of project financial results, and annual budgeting and forecasting cycles. Service orientation, attention to detail, strong technical skills in Microsoft Office projects including Excel and Power Query, and well-developed skills working with non-finance professionals will be critical to success in this role.
We are a virtual organization and as a remote worker you must be comfortable and able to work 100 per cent of the time from a home office in Canada. To be successful as a remote worker you need to have a self-starter attitude, possess strong organizational and time management skills and be a proactive communicator. Having a home office environment that provides for a productive, professional, and safe work environment during regular working/business hours is a requirement of this role. This includes internet service and a reliable connection.

About The Role
- Month-end processes including analytical review of results, revenue calculations, margin analysis, accruals and deferred revenue, oversight of timely submission of time records, preparation of materials for monthly executive meetings
- Finance integration of CRM orders (D365 Sales to Business Central)
- Invoicing and collections, working closely with other departments
- Review of contracts
- Preparing yearly budget, monthly forecast, and variance analyses for the corporate departments
- Provide support to department leads on financial matters and template design so they can make strong business decisions
- Validate department monthly closure by creating and reviewing entries (accruals, etc.)
- Perform KPI review and other analytical tasks including ad hoc reports
- Prepare account reconciliation on a monthly basis for certain accounts
- Participate in special projects with the objective of continuous improvement in operational efficiency and reporting, eliminating non-value-added activities
- Complete year-end procedures and audit requests from external auditors
- Complete other special projects and analyses as requested by the Director, Finance
- Commitment to producing high quality work and demonstrating professional values in all aspects of work and interactions with colleagues and customers.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Accounting designation (CPA) is required
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a fast and complex environment
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to assure data quality and accuracy (formulas, control totals, reconciliations, data and report formats, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge of Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas; Power Query proficiency a strong asset)
- Knowledge of D365 Sales is an asset
- Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (“ASPE”)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O, Business Central, or similar accounting software
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Demonstrated experience researching information and developing a solution and/or recommendation
- Financial modelling related to projects or other large-scale and complex situations
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Experience training non-financial staff in financial models
- Ability to work overtime as required
