Job Summary
We are seeking a Cloud Systems Engineer to join our team in Canada, ideally based in Toronto/GTA. You will be responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure and network that support our critical, customer-facing products.
We're looking for a motivated self-starter who can manage cloud migrations, ensure availability, maintain security, and oversee releases for multiple global cloud products. As part of an Agile team, you'll be hands-on with AWS Cloud, swiftly jumping into implementation, monitoring, diagnosing, and troubleshooting. Our team is passionate about technology and cross-training, offering you endless opportunities for learning and growth. Key Responsibilities
- The focus will be on ensuring a highly available, secure, and compliant Cloud infrastructure. Monitoring of systems, uptime, and alerts will minimize downtime by troubleshooting and ensuring timely resolution of production issues. Improving alerting in both systems and applications using Cloudwatch, Datadog, ServiceNow, and other monitoring systems will be prioritized.
- Following SOC Compliant processes to make changes and operate the platform is essential. Other operational aspects such as backup, disaster recovery, antivirus, and IDS will also be ensured. Weekly reviews of the security aspects of the platform will be conducted, with any issues raised to the appropriate personnel.
- Exploration and recommendation of tools to strengthen the infrastructure and increase performance, automation, scalability, and security will be a key activity.
- Collaboration with architects and developers for all updates and releases will be necessary.
- Implementation of IaaS, PaaS, and serverless services in AWS, while following proper version control practices, will be carried out to enable infrastructure automation using Python, Powershell, Shell Script, Terraform, Cloudformation, or other relevant technologies.
- Planning and executing the deployments of software to the infrastructure will be required.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Math is required, along with an interest in pursuing AWS certification.
- A background in systems or infrastructure operations is essential, combined with one or more of the following: Direct experience monitoring and supporting AWS cloud-hosted applications, hands-on experience with AWS cloud operations, exposure to information security, including backup, monitoring, and disaster recovery, and an understanding of standard architecture and infrastructure, including DNS, VPNs, IPs, etc.
- The ability to work with product managers, cross-functional teams, and customers, translating practical usability feedback into technical requirements and vice versa, is important. Thriving as the communication bridge is key.
- A genuine enjoyment of thinking out loud to create the best solutions to complex problems, utilizing the latest processes, will be valued. The ability to focus on both the big picture and the details is essential.
