Job Description:

We are seeking a talented Science Writer to join the FirstPrinciples team. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping the voice of the FirstPrinciples Hub, making complex scientific ideas accessible and engaging to a global audience. The Science Writer will collaborate closely with the Communications and Marketing teams to create engaging, high-quality content that enhances public engagement with fundamental science and cutting-edge research.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Creation & Development:

• Conceptualize, research, write, and edit high-quality articles, newsletters, and other forms of content related to theoretical and experimental physics, and fundamental research globally.
• Translate complex scientific concepts into engaging and accessible formats for various audience levels.
• Experiment with different media channels to popularize physics research and highlight the foundation's efforts.
• Develop creative approaches to convey the latest scientific developments, ensuring content remains both accurate and compelling.
  
  

Collaboration & Communication:

• Work closely with the Communications and Marketing teams to maintain consistent and impactful messaging across all platforms.
• Build and foster relationships with the global scientific community, conducting interviews with leading researchers, acting as an ambassador for FirstPrinciples, and ensuring the FirstPrinciples Hub stays on top of the latest scientific news and research.
  
  

AI-Assisted Content Production:

• Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing teams to integrate AI-generated content into the FirstPrinciples Hub, ensuring accuracy and quality control.
• Experiment with AI-driven tools to optimize content production workflows and increase efficiency.
  
  

Multimedia & Engagement:

• Assist in developing multimedia content (videos, infographics, podcasts, etc.) that complements written content and maximizes audience engagement.
• Explore innovative and creative ways to engage with the scientific community and general public through interactive content, increasing the platform's reach and influence.
• Stay informed on the latest scientific research, trends, and discussions within the community to ensure timely and relevant content across various channels.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in physics, science communications, journalism, or a related field (a strong physics background is a plus).
• Proven experience as a science writer, journalist, or similar role, with a portfolio demonstrating the ability to communicate complex scientific ideas clearly and engagingly.
• Strong research, writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with attention to detail and a focus on accuracy.
• Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
• Experience with digital publishing tools and SEO best practices.
• Passion for advancing knowledge in fundamental physics and a commitment to the foundation's mission.
• Flexibility to adapt to the evolving needs of a growing organization.
• Flexibility to travel as required for the role.
