As the QA Lead, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest quality standards for our software and hardware platform by leading the end-to-end testing processes. You will help guide a team of QA professionals by fostering a collaborative and results driven environment to ensure best practices and methodologies are followed throughout the development cycle.

You will bring innovation and emerging technical QA methodologies, like automation, to the organization and help integrate these new approaches into our day-to-day processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software and hardware engineering and product teams to design and execute test plans, identify risks, and deliver high-quality products. Your role will be essential in driving continuous improvement and fostering a culture of quality across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partnering with QA leadership and management to provide day-to-day support to the QA team, ensuring efficient task prioritization, progress tracking, reporting and alignment with project goals.
  • Bring in a new emerging technology focused point of view to the team and company, helping to drive innovation specific to QA around things like automation, use of new tools and platforms, or even AI to help us embrace new ways of working efficiently.
  • Work closely with development, product management, and other stakeholders to advocate for high-quality deliverables, ensuring alignment with product goals and user expectations.
  • Partner with team to help develop, maintain, and execute detailed test plans, checklists, and scenarios for both software and hardware, utilizing black-box and white-box testing methodologies.
  • Identify and analyze potential risks early in the product lifecycle, collaborating with the team to mitigate issues proactively, with a big focus on both the technical aspect as well as overall user experience for our customers.
  • Offer actionable feedback and guidance to the engineering team during the debugging process to resolve issues effectively. Help with the change management that comes with embracing new technologies and tools.
  • Ensure that product requirements are met and validate the functionality, ensuring alignment with user needs and development progress.
  • Help foster a team-oriented environment, collaborating with QA members and other departments to ensure smooth testing execution and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide timely updates on testing progress, defects, blockers, and other relevant activities to leadership and stakeholders. Must champion clear and consistent communication.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of QA processes, tools, and workflows to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Mentor junior team members, guiding best practices and technical skills to support their professional growth.

Requirements

The successful candidate should possess the following skills:

  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate in both written and verbal forms, articulating complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent eye for detail during test cycles, taking unconventional approaches when necessary, and using strong analytical skills to identify root causes, not just surface-level issues.
  • Ability to stay focused and dedicated to product deliverables, ensuring deadlines are met without sacrificing quality.
  • Capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team, adjusting to different needs and tasks in both settings.
  • Be adaptable to swift priority changes based on impact level and business needs.
  • Highly motivated to identify and act upon gaps in processes, with a passion for staying up to date with the latest technologies and trends.
  • In-depth understanding of the SDLC, with the ability to align testing efforts with each stage of the process

Skills Required

The successful candidate should possess and have extensive functional knowledge of the following:

  • Proficiency in creating test plans, test cases, scenarios, and checklists using white box and black-box testing methodologies to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard QA tools such as JIRA, Postman, Test Rail, etc.
  • Good understanding of Automation Frameworks and Strategy, the test automation life-cycle, and ability to help drive towards continuous integration.
  • Experience and knowledge of testing software across multiple platforms, including mobile apps (iOS/Android) and web-based platforms ensuring compatibility and functionality across environments.
  • Experience working in a cloud environment (e.g., AWS, Azure) and understanding of cloud-based testing, deployments, and integrations.
  • General knowledge of electronics and systems integration.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab) for automating testing and deployment.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or equivalent, for documentation, reporting, and presenting findings.
  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field or relevant experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Quality Assurance tester.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing a QA team with testers.
  • Excellent written communication skills in English.
  • Bilingual (French/English) is a plus.
