Position Overview

The Junior System Administrator plays a crucial role in supporting, implementing, and maintaining the

organization's IT infrastructure with an emphasis on healthcare applications. This position involves

ensuring the smooth operation of systems critical to clinical and administrative functions, managing EHR

applications, addressing technical issues, and enhancing user support. The role requires a focus on

workflow optimization, user assistance, and meticulous documentation, all while ensuring adherence to

healthcare compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • User and Access Management
  • Set up and maintain user accounts, passwords, and access controls, ensuring


compliance with security protocols and healthcare regulations.

  • IT Hardware and Application Support
  • Assist in the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT hardware and software,


including EHR/EMR systems.

  • Configure systems using tools like Microsoft Intune or similar MDM platforms.
  • Provide support for end-users, addressing technical issues related to hardware,


software, and network connectivity.

  • Database Management
  • Support database operations, ensuring data integrity, regular backups, and effective


recovery processes.

  • Training and Workflow Optimization
  • Identify training needs for end-users, working with application teams to deliver targeted


training sessions.

  • Participate in projects aimed at optimizing workflows for improved system performance


and user efficiency.

  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution
  • Capture and document end-user issues, troubleshoot, resolve, or escalate them as


necessary, collaborating with relevant teams for resolutions.

  • Assist in functional testing and system configurations/updates.
  • Security and Compliance
  • Ensure IT systems comply with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, implementing


necessary security measures for patient data protection.

  • Participate in compliance audits and documentation.
  • Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain and update system documentation, user manuals, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Assist with generating reports and documentation for audits.
  • On-Call Support
  • Participate in on-call duties to support urgent issues outside of normal working hours.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
  • Perform additional tasks and projects as directed by management.
  • May include evening, weekend, or on-call duties to maintain system availability.


Qualifications

  • Education Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or


equivalent work experience.

  • Preferred Education Certifications like CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or Cisco are


beneficial.

  • Experience 1-3 years of experience in IT support with a focus on system administration.
  • Knowledge or experience in a healthcare environment, handling EHR systems is preferred
  • Understanding of IT systems, networks, and healthcare-specific software.
  • Familiarity with healthcare privacy laws, including HIPAA.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Entra, and Intune.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure (servers, workstations, networking).
