DWF Claims Canada Ltd. is a multi-disciplinary commercial claims organization (A third party adjusting firm) working with insurers to manage their claims portfolios from our network of offices across the globe. In Canada we have offices in Vancouver and Toronto. This position can be remote from anywhere in Canada.

Our Canadian office is currently recruiting for a Senior Claims Examiner. Under the direct supervision of the Claims Director and Senior Claims Staff, the Claims Examiner will perform customer service and claims functions within all lines of commercial business, but with particular emphasis on General Liability Claims and Professional Liability claims. The incumbent will ensure timely disposition of mid-size to large claims with the purpose of achieving timely resolution / cost effective settlements on behalf of DWF Claims Canada Ltd. and its clients, both international and domestic.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate complex claims through adjusters and counsel on CGL, E&O, Wrap up liability, and Legal expense claims
  • Evaluate information on all types of claims and damages to determine the extent of exposure to the client and carrier;
  • Assess Insurance claim coverage, liability, and quantum.
  • Effectively implement a litigations management program on assigned files;
  • Set reserves within authority and make claim recommendations concerning reserve changes to the appropriate client(s), as well as documenting files with clear, well written file notes summarizing activities on each file;
  • Provide outstanding customer service and work well with brokers, insureds, clients, third party claimants and other stakeholders as necessary in the adjustment of claims; Mentor junior staff.

What will help you succeed in this role?

  • A University degree or college diploma
  • Completion of or pursuing the CIP designation is preferred;
  • Have or close to obtaining an Ontario Insurance Adjusters License, or equivalent from another province
  • Commercial claims adjusting experience with knowledge of the Lloyd Market.
  • Ability to work independently and assimilate learning materials on many different subjects from various sources;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills as well as listening skills;
  • Committed team player with a preference to work in a collaborative setting;
  • Excellent negotiation skills with an aptitude for diplomacy;
  • Strong customer orientation to respond to and support customer needs;
  • Effective time management and organization skills.

Bilingualism/ability to monitor and handle claims in French would also be considered an asset
