What this role is all about:
Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, the VP, Business Banking is the business line leader responsible for leading and directing the credit union’s commercial banking sales, service delivery and business development activities while ensuring that the credit union effectively balances its goals and objectives for growth, member retention, depth of relationship, member experience/loyalty and the profitability of its commercial business operations.

What you'll do:
People and Organizational Leadership
- Has functional leadership and oversight of business banking in all regions and trade areas
- Provides leadership and coaching to a team of direct reports to maximize sales, member experience, business and community development, and operational performance
- Maintains a high level of employee engagement through effective communication, regular coaching, and mentorship. Accountable for the achievement of high Employee Opinion Survey results and employee retention
- Develops succession plans for all key positions and ensure that personal development plans are completed and implemented for internal candidates that express a desire to advance their careers
- Proactively collaborates and engages with other cross functional leaders to jointly plan and execute enterprise-wide initiatives
- Aligns, coordinates and executes on all budget related and business planning activities required by the organization as per required cycles
- Through consistent and effective communication, contributes to a member centric, healthy, sustainable and engaging employee experience
- Creates a collaborative environment and supports a learning culture
- Oversees professional development and coaching plans for all direct reports
- Responsible for providing financial product sales and advice to commercial and agricultural members (typically up to $150million in revenue) to support them in achieving their corporate and financial goals, improve their overall financial wellbeing and the sustainability of Beem.
- Ensures that all sales and service-related processes, procedures and protocols are well documented and communicated
- Ensures effective and timely implementation of all compliance and internal audit related findings and adherence with corporate policies
- Assesses the performance of business sales teams and develops insights and recommendations for improvement
- Acts as the functional line of business head for all aspects of business banking operations
- Considers the business landscape and outlook beyond the initiative when determining risks and their potential impact on the organization
- Ensures long and short-term profitability by maximizing revenues, controlling expenses, and evaluating business unit and employee performance
- Accountable for the development and maintenance of efficient and member focused systems and solutions to support operations including the CRM system, adequate controls including credit quality and adherence to all regulatory and legislative requirements
- Develop and execute strategy and process around general administration, compliance, marketing and member experience as it relates to delivery of a wide range of products, services and systems
- Plays a lead role in building execution strategy for a wide range of sales, service and operational initiatives
- Contributes to all areas of operational strategy including performance and implementation
- Develops and feeds into annual operating plans for business banking and oversees effective implementation and execution
- Leads and directs local business development strategies to grow our business, capture market share and broaden awareness of Beem Credit Union
- Acts as a key line of business contact for a wide range of corporate projects, initiatives and committees
- Plays a lead role in business forecasting, developing annual operating plans and budgets
- Oversees Beem’s local business development initiatives with a key focus on ensuring building and sustaining an effective pipeline of lending and deposits to meet annual operating plan objectives
- Ensures effective member referral pipelines to other lines of business in order to fully optimize member value and deepen relationships
- Embraces Technological advancements for stronger data-driven decision-making to make more informed decisions. Adaptable leader who quickly recognizes the value of new insights and integrates them into strategic planning and execution
- Work with other leaders and staff in Business Banking to develop and implement a high-performance sales culture that includes the consistent delivery of a Member/Client first strategy. Members' needs are to be identified and then fulfilled by resources that have the knowledge and experience to provide trusted advice and exceptional service.
- Provides direction, implements and audits member experience practices, protocols and standards of the reporting teams
- Responds to member concerns, complaints, issues
- Proactively identify potential members
- Minimum 10 years of experience in progressive lending, deposit services, commercial banking, and senior management
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, Sales, or related field; MBA preferred
- Essential experience in business and retail banking, marketing, and business credit
- Knowledge of financial statements and their impact on enterprise-level decision-making
- Awareness of Standards of Sound Business Practices and the Credit Union Act and Regulations

- Competitive base salary; reviewed annually - the salary range for this position is $184,400 - $204,900
