OPEN is building the next greatest superapp at the intersection of e-commerce and community and are looking for a part-time (15-20 hrs/week) expert in physical product development to help us drive our merchandising strategy & execution. We're currently working with top celebs and content creators to create, market, sell, and form communities around their own brands of products and seek an expert in market analysis, merchandising, pricing, project management of production and e-commerce execution. This role acts as a conduit between our client facing teams and manufacturing hub, focusing both on product selection and production execution. Our products run the gamut from apparel to home goods and consumer electronics and feature limited-edition, high-quality custom drops.

This role is a remote role located ideally in PST for ease of communications. We're looking for someone who can start as soon as possible and are structuring this as a 3-month contract to begin with the possibility to convert to a full-time permanent placement as OPEN grows.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning and executing merchandising strategies to optimize product assortments and maximize sales and profitability for both celebrity partners and OPEN.
  • Analyzing e-commerce market trends using analysis tools, customer preferences, and sales data to make informed decisions on product selection and pricing, ensuring products align with seller branding.
  • Acting as conduit between Business Development and Manufacturing teams to understand client needs and product details (timelines, MOQs, unit prices, etc.) to ensure products align with client community demographics and market demands.
  • Coordinating with a team of freelance product designers to communicate product details + design guidelines for them to create branded product mock-ups.
  • Monitoring market trends around popular premium products to keep product assortment fresh and exciting.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, and sales, to align merchandising strategies with overall business objectives.

About you:

  • 5+ years of experience in e-commerce product development, merchandising, or related field
  • Experience working between celebs/brands (creating / purchasing products to sell or re-sell) and manufacturing teams
  • Incredible attention to detail and strong project management expertise
  • Analytical - understands how to use data to inform pricing and assortment decision
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a strong ability to monitor and communicate on multiple channels (whatsapp, wechat, slack, etc.)
  • Able to partner with internal teams to confirm and manage to priorities
  • Nice to have: bilingual in English & Mandarin (both written and spoken)
