The Sr Systems Development Consultant formulates and modifies procedures to solve complex problems, proposes and designs systems and solutions to address business needs, and liaises with other technical/functional areas to ensure guidelines are adhered to within development projects. As a senior level in the Systems Development job stream, the Sr Systems Development Consultant provides system development expertise, technical leadership, and consulting to project teams across multiple phases of systems development and technology and provides advanced leadership and guidance to less experienced IT staff.

Technologies You Have Experience With

  • Knowledge of UI, SQL, HTML and CSS, JavaScript, XML
  • Cloud technologies such as Azure or AWS
  • Working with 3rd party API’s
  • In depth understanding of basic programming principles
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (an asset)
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Development (an asset)
  • Practical knowledge of ServiceNow platform (e.g. ITSM, ITOM, SPM, Virtual Agent)
  • Understanding of ITIL practices and Service Management


How You Will Create Impact

  • Perform technical analysis and formulate design and solutions for a complex system or for integration with multiple systems, including verifying integration across multiple hardware platforms and development environments.
  • Thinking big and taking ownership of end-to-end technical solutions
  • Ensure the overall design considers all aspects (environment, strategy, key business need, user demand, integration with related systems, financial implications, etc.) and all design/system components are feasible, maintainable, usable, scalable, and work with the overall technical design of the system(s) or solution.
  • Lead internal ServiceNow Technical Review Board and lead design review and validation with peers, business systems analysts, subject matter experts, Enterprise Architecture, infrastructure & operations, information security, legal and audit to ensure it is complete, compliant, and follows the standards, guidelines, and recommendations of the SDLC process, Enterprise Architecture and ServiceNow platform governance.
  • Evaluate software packages and prepare proposals, recommending implementation of changes to systems architecture.
  • Establish accurate time and resource estimates and may provide high level estimates for business prioritization.
  • Lead in the delivery of large-scale solutions, working with the development team to delivery consistent and timely solutions.
  • Create and maintain succinct documentation for business and technical audiences using various and applicable media.
  • Participate in defining work breakdown structures, milestones and estimates.

To Join Our Team

  • You have experience designing and building complex solutions.
  • You have a can-do attitude and are willing to dig in, spend the time to learn not only the technology, but also the business knowledge.
  • At least 8 years' experience in IT, or equivalent combination of education and experience, along with a Diploma or degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.
  • Knowledge of strategic and tactical plans.
  • In-depth knowledge of multiple enterprise applications and the technologies used.
  • Expert in SDLC and architectural standards.
