OIT ONLY RECRUITMENT: This recruitment is open only to current employees of the Office of Information Technology.
Your work will include management and continuous monitoring of the day-to-day network operations and provides consistent summary information and status to the Agency and OIT IT Directors. You will engage staff, peers, vendors, and customers in collaboration to assess and review network and communications solutions, technologies, industry trends, architectural design, operational support enhancements, and incident response to maintain and scale the agency network services.
Some Of The Day To Day Duties
Prepare weekly project status lists, employee task lists, and assignments. Decide on the priority of the workload and project tasks for the team.
Develop a weekly work plan with each team member. Decide which team members need to participate in projects, work efforts, and cross training.
Review service desk tickets for the network team to ensure proper routing, updating, and resolution.
Develop cross training plans for each team member to assist the team in learning more about network tools, network design and network infrastructure.
Assess employee performance on a routine basis, provide feedback on performance issues, and if necessary, document progressive discipline on an employee.
Provides continuous monitoring of day-to-day network operations and provides summary information and status to your Network Operations Manager.
Monitors systems usage/growth over periods of time in order to implement additional resources to handle projected system requirements. This affects network performance to enterprise network users in their ability to access applications.
Runs incident management and incident response and coordinates Root Cause analysis for Network Operations teams.
Takes operational concepts from leadership and develops them into an action plan with resources and timeline. Briefs the concept and plan back to leadership for implementation.
Assists in developing strategic and tactical goals in support of the information technology infrastructure of the OIT enterprise through long range planning, consideration of state needs, and the goals of the organization.
Assist team members with Level 3 support and troubleshooting by providing training and coaching.
Actively engage in improving leadership skills, attitudes, and knowledge, especially as related to equity, diversity and inclusion. Attend training, development and group training on topics of inclusive leadership.

A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While most salary offers are made within the posted range, occasionally an offer is made below or above the posted range based upon this salary analysis.
Minimum Qualifications
This is a skills-based job announcement. The required minimum qualifications and/or education (if substituting for the proven experience, knowledge, and skills), are as follows:
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in the analysis, administration, configuration, implementation, installation, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Cisco based network routing, switching, software, data communications, voice communications, and/or video communication systems. This must include high level networking experience with solid understanding of the OSI and/or TCP/IP model.
Substitutions
Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications. There is no substitution for any required management experience.
Training or Certification related to the work assigned to the position will be assigned credit towards substitution for experience and/or education, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.
If the minimum qualifications include a degree requirement, additional appropriate paid or unpaid experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Cisco Certifications (CCNP)
Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
Experience with redundant ISP connectivity.
6 months of leadership or team lead for a minimum of 2 team members.

OIT candidates and employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work.

This position may require travel within the specified geographic area, and to locations across the state as needed.
This position may require on-call duties as needed by the position.
