About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled individual with a robust accounting background, exceptional people management abilities, and a strong commitment to optimizing finance processes. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the ideal candidate will consistently deliver accurate and timely financial results, even within the demanding environment of a publicly traded company.
The successful candidate must have substantial hands-on experience with accounting systems such as Great Plains or similar platforms. This role involves direct oversight of the company’s monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes. Working closely with the General Manager, the candidate will be entrusted with the ongoing evaluation and improvement of inefficient processes.
The candidate will also lead the organization’s use of systems like Great Plains and Blackline to fulfill their responsibilities. While in-depth knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP software revenue recognition is not mandatory, it would be an advantage. Advanced proficiency in Excel is essential for success in this role.
The role is based in North America.
Responsibilities:
- Direct oversight and ownership of all revenue accounting for Maintenance and Professional Services, in accordance with IFRS 15
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of our reconciliation of various key accounts such as Cash, AR, WIP, Prepaids, Fixed Assets, Intercompany Balances, Accrued Liabilities, Deferred Revenue and more
- Ensure accounting is in accordance with IFRS/CSI Accounting Policies; including IFRS 16, and Capitalized Commission
- Cash management, including bi-weekly Accounts Payable batches, including ACH / Wire Transfer payments
- Oversight of monthly CSI bonus plan accrual in coordination with General Manager
- Recording and reconciling intercompany transactions and balances for entities within Decideware as well as Volaris and Portfolio entities
- Assist the General Manager with quarterly forecasting process (and responsible for executing improvements for forecasting accuracy, where needed).
- Prepare quarterly presentations on results achieved and future period forecast
- Responsible for accurate and timely completion of all Volaris month end and quarter end deliverables
- Responsible for managing books for two legal entities, a US based company and one based in Australia
- Responsible for some compliance reporting such as sales and payroll tax (for clarity, not income tax)
- Responsible for commission payout and expense reporting and reimbursement process
- Assistance with ad-hoc assignments and financial analysis from the General Manager
- Key resource for answering queries related to CSI Internal Audit, Volaris Corporate Finance and KPMG
- Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, and takes initiative to identify areas for improvement and execute on them
- Coordinating with state and federal government agencies regarding employee and taxes
- Coordinating with internal departments such as tax, payroll, HR, etc.
- Responsible for ad-hoc financial data requests made by CSI
- Some travel may be required. Candidate must be able to travel to and within Canada and the U.S.
Education and Experience:
- University or college degree in business or accounting is ideal;
- Significant in-depth knowledge of accounting software and journal entry processes;
- Experience using Great Plains or similar financial software;
- Familiarity with standard accounting practices such as IFRS and US GAAP;
- Advanced Excel and typing skills required;
- 5+ years of Senior Finance related job experience.
