The Role:


Agenus is hiring an Executive Director, Market Access (GPOs, Trade, Distribution, and Reimbursement Services) who will build and lead the commercial organization's GPO account team, field access support team, distribution and channel strategy, and reimbursement/caregiver/patient services. This leader will be responsible for exploring all approaches to ensure that every eligible patient can receive Agenus’ products while realizing innovative models to help streamline any inefficiencies in the healthcare system that limit patient access. As a member of the commercial team, this position will work across the organization and commercial functions to ensure alignment and execution of the channel and distribution strategy to support commercial launch and growth plans. This position reports to the Vice President, Market Access and may be based in Lexington, MA or remotely.


In the role you will:



  • Drive collaboration across commercial, legal, compliance, quality, supply chain, medical affairs, and finance to ensure seamless delivery and exceptional reimbursement support.



  • Lead our customer experience working group to define and deliver an improved patient and caregiver experience that redefines expectations of how a biotechnology organization serves both providers and patients.



  • Define and implement exceptional reimbursement hub services, either internally or with external partners to deliver experiences that faithfully represent our profound commitment to HCPs and to patients.



  • Develop a leading approach to patient financial assistance and affordability to enable access to Agenus medicines.



  • Hire and lead account team responsible for ensuring access for Agenus products through maintaining relationships with key customers and Group Purchasing Organizations



  • Lead and manage accounts, performance monitoring, business rules, and negotiation/contracting activities for 3PL, Specialty Pharmacy, Specialty Distribution, and GPOs.



  • Manage all aspects of commercial inventory management and product access strategies through trade and distribution channels.



  • Hire and lead field access support team to ensure sales leaders have the tools to meet the reimbursement needs of all institutions and providers.



  • Collaborate with analytics teams (operations, vendors, finance, forecasting, budgets, etc.) to effectively represent franchise sales, gross-to-net, and meet government reporting requirements.



  • Collaborate with commercial operations to implement commercial data strategy, metrics, KPIs to drive leadership decision-making. Ensure timely and accurate collection, analysis, management, and dissemination of distribution and GPO data as a mechanism to turn analytics into insights.



  • Develop our approach to managing and resolving issues in the areas of contracting, pricing, inventory control, returns, chargebacks, and EDI.



  • Develop and manage the operational budgets consistent with the financial goals and objectives of the company, including efficient management of partners, vendors, and contracted resources.



  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures, as well as U.S. healthcare laws and regulations.


Qualifications: About You



  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.



  • 15+ years of biotech/pharma or related experience with at least ten (10) years of direct experience in the setup and management of 3PL, Specialty Distribution, GPOs, and Reimbursement Services.



  • Experience leading negotiations and management of wholesaler and specialty distribution services agreements.



  • Prior experience managing senior account executives and teams.



  • Prior work experience with distribution of oncology therapeutic products is highly desired.



  • Prior work experience with limited/specialty distribution products is highly desired.



  • Advanced analytical skills, including experience directing and managing activities related to distribution and channel services performance reporting.



  • Deep understanding of performance and operational indicators for 3PL, Specialty Distribution, and GPOs.



  • Strong experience in commercial pharmaceutical data availability and development of performance-based dashboards that can enable senior executive, commercial management, and sales professional actions in response to analytics and insights.



  • Demonstrated experience forecasting and managing 3PL and Specialty Distribution Services budgets.



  • Strong customer orientation.



  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively present ideas and influence others that achieve desired results.



  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to drive to consensus.



  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and ability to make sound business arguments to influence external decision makers as well as to establish Agenus’ reputation as a valued business partner.



  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment with high expectations and accountability for the quality and timing of deliverables.



  • Ability to travel as business needs require.
