Also provides educational opportunities for students to develop deeper understanding of, and more effective skills in, participating in a diverse, inclusive, and equitable learning community and global society. Provides administrative support to prospective English language learning students as assigned to help them navigate the enrollment process

Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary/pay rate commensurate with experience that vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. Absent exceptional circumstances, candidates will be offered a salary within this range for this position. The Part-time Intercultural Learning Instructor teaches cohorts of students within English language learning programs as assigned. Also provides educational opportunities for students to develop deeper understanding of, and more effective skills in, participating in a diverse, inclusive, and equitable learning community and global society. Provides administrative support to prospective English language learning students as assigned to help them navigate the enrollment process
Essential Functions:
- Lead classroom sessions online according to university policies.
- Provide expertise in assigned content areas by maintaining current knowledge in best practices of English language learning.
- Respond to student needs in a timely fashion, typically within 48 hours.
- Provide substantive feedback to students, grade assignments, and post grades.
- Participate in online discussion boards.
- Emphasize student-centered learning by promoting student inquiries and encouraging participation in their own learning.
- Design and/or edit educational intercultural content for lessons, workshops, modules, or events.
- Collaborate with IT, marketing, and other cross-departmental teams.
- Maintain a positive, safe, student-centric learning environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Measuring Performance
- Specific performance standards for teaching include, but are not limited to:
- PT Intercultural Learning Instructor will answer all student emails within two calendar days which is likely to require responding over weekends. The exception to this requirement is if the Instructor is on paid time off or when there is a holiday observed by the University.
- Communication with students will take place within the University learning management system (LMS), University-designated systems and through the University assigned email.
- PT Intercultural Learning Instructor will contact PACE Operations (by use of designated means) in the LMS as soon as PT Intercultural Learning Instructor determines a student is not actively participating in the course.
- PT Intercultural Learning Instructor will contact a student by email and a phone call to encourage re-engagement in the course as soon as PT Intercultural Learning Instructor determines a student is not actively participating in the course.
- As technologically supported by the platform, PT Intercultural Learning Instructor will host no less than two one-hour synchronous office hour sessions per week. Office hours will be posted in each course.
- PT Intercultural Learning Instructor will provide quality feedback to students. Quality feedback includes but is not limited to:
- substantive and reflect a content focus.
- impart knowledge, share resources and dialogue with students.
- include track changes of edits to proper use of mechanics.
- include a summative statement at the beginning or end of document with key observations.
- communicate in a manner and with language reflecting support of the student.

Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Education, Multicultural/Multilingual Education, Human Relations, Social Justice, or related field, required.
- A doctoral or terminal degree is preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in international or intercultural education or diversity, equity, and inclusion in a college or university setting, required.
- Experience creating intercultural learning materials, activities, and interactions.
- Bilingual or multilingual preferred.
Competencies/Technical/Functional Skills:
- Ability to build rapport and constructive relations with individuals from diverse ethnic and/or minority groups and knowledge in key subject areas, such as intercultural competencies, curriculum development, inclusive leadership, unconscious bias, cultural neuroscience, and other related subjects.
- A proven track record of success in developing and implementing initiatives, supporting students and faculty, leading staff, and creating meaningful relations with multiple constituencies.
- Effective facilitation and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional organizational and communicative skills with the ability to manage multiple projects to successful completion.
- Exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skill, soft skills, intercultural competence, including a collaborative, team-oriented, student-centered, servant leadership style.
- Demonstrated intercultural competence.
- Ability to create intercultural learning materials.
- Ability to design, navigate, or edit on Brightspace.
- Demonstrate proficiency in andragogy, learning and teaching methodologies and theories, curriculum development.
