The Senior Director of Sustainability is directly responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the company sustainability programs under the Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) framework. Leads a collaborative, cross-functional and multi-disciplinary team in efforts to improve all aspects of sustainability, from energy efficiency and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions to waste management and sustainable development. Reports to the Senior Vice President, Environment, Health & Safety.



Essential Responsibilities:



  • Manage the overall direction of the company’s ESG efforts and strategy, as set forth by the company leadership.

  • Develop and document the company’s enterprise-wide sustainability goals and criteria.

  • Overall management of sustainability metrics for initiatives and on-going operations.

  • Prepare financial analyses for sustainable initiatives and measure outcomes.

  • Develop monitoring protocols for operations as relates to greenhouse gas emissions to ensure all goals and targets are met.

  • Research current and emerging industry trends related to sustainability to identify future opportunities for growth or risk areas that may require mitigation efforts.

  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders such as contractors, suppliers, customers, etc. to ensure alignment of ESG goals.

  • Develop a framework to embed climate risk into current business processes.

  • Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for improvement across the enterprise for environmental and sustainability performance.

  • Encourage the use of renewable/sustainable energy resources throughout the organization.

  • Raise the profile of greenhouse gas emission reduction, identifying goals for facilities, operations, supply chain and other functions.

  • Develop training programs and improvement plans to ensure ESG is integrated into all business aspects.

  • Develop processes for compiling, maintaining, and filing ESG disclosure reports (CSRD, SEC, Corporate Sustainability Report, etc).

  • Develop and execute appropriate action plans to optimize the company’s return on investment in ESG.



Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:



Bachelor’s degree in Environment Health & Safety, Engineering, Business, Management, or a related field, and twelve to fifteen (12-15) years of relevant experience. Master’s degree preferred.



Familiarity with environmental and sustainability concepts, practices, and procedures. Ability to organize and plan work efficiently and operate independently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and integrated software applications.



Communication skills: Strong written and oral communication skills, with attention to detail and a flair for creating visually appealing and concise materials that convey environmental sustainability practices and principles.



Creative skills: Strong creative thinking and ability to translate complex concepts into engaging training materials and videos. Proficiency in multimedia tools and software.



Collaborative spirit: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and to produce results that meet stakeholder expectations.



Position requires staying current with industry standards and a commitment to detail-oriented work. Some travel may be required.
