Journey Guides are trained facilitators who lead mental health support groups within our community, which are capped to 5 people per group and meet for 80 mins per week inside of video game environments. They are responsible for leading group processes, fostering group cohesion, and creating a safe and productive place for individuals to learn more about themselves and how to address their needs in a subclinical atmosphere. Journey Guides are also pillars of authentic, supportive healing within the broader community, outside of group sessions. This role is an opportunity to participate in an innovative approach to providing care, you won't find an experience like this anywhere else.
These will help you thrive in this position:
- Avid love for video gaming
- Passion for and expertise (or developing expertise) in ACT
- Behavioral Activation expertise a plus
- Ability and willingness to work with members remotely via live audio and message-based forum media
- Desire to maintain a part-time caseload at 10 to 25 total hours a week (between 6 and 12 groups a week or 9 to 22.5 session hours), with the remainder of time for community activities, professional development, and team coordination
- Test and support innovative methods grounded in evidence-based practice
- Training and mentoring opportunities for qualified and interested candidates
- Flexibility with non-traditional work hours such as evenings and weekends
What we expect from you:
- Master's Degree, minimum, in Psychological Counseling, Mental Health Counseling, or Professional Counseling, or related clinical mental health Master's degree
- Last 12 months of job positions are clinically focused (not administrative or case work)
- Excitement and passion for providing mental health services to the video gaming community
- Current experience with games such as Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley, Minecraft, FFXIV, Roblox, and/or Fortnite
- Experience with DBT and/or ACT therapy modalities
- Current or former experience leading groups in a therapeutic or educational environment
Nice to have:
- Current associate or independent license as a LMHC, LPC, LCPC, LPCC, LMFT, or equivalent
- Experience in virtual care and use of digital platforms (Discord a plus)
- Experience with neurodivergent, systems, and/or gender-affirming care
