Job Profile Summary:


The Senior Manager of instruction Faculty is an important strategic leadership position that plays a central role in faculty leadership, strategic planning, and cross-department collaboration. This Senior Manager has ultimate responsibility for the success of initiatives that improve student experience and school outcomes. The Senior Manager will coordinate across leadership teams to drive continuous improvement in course and program outcomes for the school's assigned program areas within the School of Technology



Job Description:


Deep analytical knowledge of interpreting complex data to meet business goals and objectives


  • Creates vision, strategy, and goals, acting as a champion to achieve a culture of innovation.

  • Oversees, develops, and implements change management strategies within WGU.

  • Develop and implement strategies and goals that will maximize the synergies among WGU through developing and delivering high-quality programs and services for students.

  • Effectively leads a high-performing team of program-specific managers.

  • Collaborates with the leadership team to develop objectives and performance measurements across all sites, ensuring consistent, high-quality evaluation and goal setting for employees.

  • Identifies and develops key drivers for employee engagement and measurements of success.

  • Communicates WGU’s mission and strategic vision effectively and consistently and leads by example.




Strategic Direction and Leadership:


  • Focuses on the entire arc of the student’s program experience- from prospect to alumni- to ensure WGU delivers seamless, frictionless programs that deliver on WGU’s student promise of degree and career success.

  • Plays a key role in reviewing the support provided by the Student Support Centers to ensure that the support, learning resources, and/or tutoring are meeting students' needs.

  • Maintains a solid understanding of college and institutional goals and priorities related to the student experience.

  • Works closely with the leadership team to ensure programs and initiatives designed and maintained meet our students' needs.

  • Assists in the creation and implementation of the college strategic plan.




Academic Delivery:


  • Constantly challenges the status quo of all program delivery. From a holistic perspective, the Senior Manager Course Faculty will relentlessly remind the Operations Leadership team to push for zero dissatisfaction and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Works to integrate the college programs and initiatives to optimize the student experience.

  • Collaborates with university and college stakeholders to ensure full integration of programs and initiatives and that, whenever possible, these programs are college-specific.

  • Maintains strategic oversight of college programs to ensure they evolve to meet the needs of the students, campus, and faculty partners.




Relationship Building:


  • Establishes a network of strategic relationships with university partners and external organizations to remain up-to-date on new research and strategies and initiatives, and to disseminate this to the broader college community as appropriate.

  • Will participate in and contribute to regular staff and department meetings with university partners as appropriate.

  • Engages university partners in meaningful conversations about factors contributing to student success, retention, and student engagement.

  • Represents the college at meetings related to the student experience.




Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:


  • Proven ability to take initiative and be innovative, strategic, and flexible.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, solid organizational skills, and sound judgment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, build consensus, and be sensitive to the needs and interests of various stakeholders.

  • Strong contributor to the function of a diverse team within and across the university.

  • Proven ability to contribute to and thrive in a collaborative environment.

  • Expertise for applying a positive team approach to working with colleagues.

  • Accomplished using and interpreting data to make decisions and effectively communicate results to various stakeholders.

  • Able to build collaborative working relationships across roles and the university.

  • Ability to lead and influence colleagues and university stakeholders in understanding the student experience.

  • Teamwork skills are crucial, as is consensus building and strategic leadership.




Minimum Qualifications:


  • Master's, Doctorate, or terminal degree. Education must be from an accredited institution. Education is verified.

  • Requires broad management knowledge to lead the department. Generally, has advanced level knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with an understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the University.

  • 2-3 years in a leadership position

  • 2-3 years Information Technology related experience




Preferred Qualifications:


  • Doctorate, or terminal degree in IT or equivalent area of study.

  • 3 years of leadership experience managing managers.
