Job Overview


We are currently seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced individual for the position of Sr. Manager, Learning and Development. The Sr. Manager, Learning and Development will be responsible for the design and delivery of enterprise-level talent solutions in addition to learning management systems and operational management within the Learning and Organizational Development Department. The role spans LMS administration, oversight of virtual learning platforms, talent and performance project planning and execution, and program marketing and administration. The Sr. Manager, Learning and Development will report to the Executive Director, Learning and Organizational Development under the HR organization



Job Duties and Responsibilities



Talent and Performance Management – 30%


  • Oversee annual performance management process and related annual initiatives.

  • Support annual talent review and succession planning process.

  • Ensures projects are run efficiently, incorporating best practices in streamlining work while meeting and exceeding project requirements.

  • Develop training and resources to support performance and talent processes.

  • Work with the HRIS team to establish metrics and dashboards to monitor and communicate progress as well as extract insights to drive continuous improvement.

  • Manage Workday related tasks associated with talent and performance management activities.




Program Marketing and Administration 30%


  • Manage the operational arm of Sumitomo University programs, schedule training, distribute materials, and maintain records and certifications.

  • Build awareness and drive participation for learning and development opportunities with effective internal marketing campaigns.

  • Administer program evaluations, track program participation, and prepare quarterly metrics.

  • Identify key messages, target audiences, and communication channels to efficiently engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and subject matter experts including HR, Marketing, and Corporate Communications, to integrate consistent, accurate and timely communication efforts that maximize impact.

  • Develop communication materials, encompassing emails, newsletters, presentations, and social media posts, to promote learning programs, events and resources.

  • Develop strategy to increase employee engagement and participation in Learning and Organizational Development initiatives.

  • Maintain Learning and Organizational Development intranet pages with current offerings and materials.




Learning Management System (LMS) – 25%


  • Partner with IT to maintain LMS operations and administration.

  • Upload and assign training according to training needs, pre-requisite, compliance requirements, or functional roles per training matrix.

  • Manage relationships with LMS vendors and ensure administration and renewals of annual contracts.

  • Continue to build the brand and drive the adoption of LMS.

  • Ensure proper training materials are available for both users and administrators.

  • Partner with IT as HR subject matter expert concerning LMS.

  • Drive continuous improvement through biannual measures, including system usage and employee experience metrics.




Learning Technologies – 15%


  • Oversee and manage vendor relationships for self-paced virtual learning platforms (LinkedIn Learning, eCornell, etc).

  • Develop and execute marketing and gamification programs to promote eLearning offers across the organization.

  • Recommend new tools and technology to stay current with external trends.

  • Prepare reports and dashboards to communicate findings, insights and recommendations to leadership and key stakeholders.




Key Core Competencies


  • Strong business acumen with the ability to effectively collaborate and build consensus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, proofreading, and editing skills.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, specifically data analysis and reporting.

  • Advanced proficiency in project management, including project management methodologies, tools and applications.

  • Ability to balance competing priorities and balance multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent relationship-building, interpersonal and influence skills with clients and colleagues.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to accomplish assignments with minimal supervision.

  • Working knowledge of learning management systems, Sum Total experience preferred.




Education and Experience


  • BS degree in Human Resources or related field.

  • 10+years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 7+ years of experience with a Master’s degree in HR field, Learning and Development function experience preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience managing learning technologies. (LMS, HRIS, eLearning platforms, etc.)




The base salary range for this role is $145,400 to $181,700. Base salary is part of our total rewards package which also includes the opportunity for merit-based salary increases, short incentive plan participation, eligibility for our 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances and leaves provided in line with your work state. Our robust time-off policy includes unlimited paid time off, 11 paid holidays plus additional time off for a shut-down period during the last week of December, 80 hours of paid sick time upon hire and each year thereafter. Total compensation, including base salary to be offered, will depend on elements unique to each candidate, including candidate experience, skills, education and other factors permitted by law
