We are looking for a Mission Lead to act as a representative of the Program Management Office (PMO), providing day-to-day support to the CNL mission(s) to ensure compliance with PMO / CNL processes, procedures and standards. What you will be doing!



  • Providing the project planning and controls knowledge, skills, tools and techniques required to meet PMO / CNL needs and expectations;

  • Providing subject matter expertise on the topics of work breakdown structure, cost management, schedule management and risk management;

  • Ensuring compliance with the PMO core planning and control processes (work breakdown structure, cost estimating, cost control, scheduling, earned value management and reporting, etc.) systems and templates, and coaches / mentors staff in there usage;

  • Organizing and prioritizing work for the mission(s), providing guidance and direction in line with PMO / CNL goals;

  • Ensuring that quality of the mission(s) project controls team output is maintained consistent with the PMO / CNL requirements and industry standards;

  • Providing recommendations and coaching with respect to procedural compliance, accuracy and completeness;

  • Acting as the single point of contact (SPOC) between the mission(s) and the PMO to respond to inquiries and resolve issues related to the PMO processes and procedures;

  • Reviewing all Project Change Requests (PCRs) / Performance Baseline Change Proposals (PBCPs) and required supporting documentation prepared by the mission(s) to ensure compliance with the PMO procedures processes, and provides feedback to the mission(s) to meet the required standards;

  • Reviewing and performing pre-checks of P6 what-if schedules on behalf of the PMO, to support the preparation, approval and implementation of PBCPs for the mission(s);

  • Performing COBRA pre-integration and validation of P6 what-if schedules on behalf of the PMO, to support the preparation, approval and implementation of PBCPs for the mission(s), and works with the mission(s) to address any deficiencies;

  • Performing COBRA integration and validation of approved performance measurement baselines (PMBs) on behalf of the PMO, upon final approval of PBCPs;

  • Providing support to the mission(s) with the development and maintenance of Control Account Manager (CAM) Notebooks following PMO / CNL standards;

  • Performing audits of the mission(s) CAM Notebooks for approved projects to ensure compliance with PMO / CNL standards, and works with the mission(s) to address any deficiencies;

  • Performing quarterly reviews and clean-up of Primavera (P6) 10YR baselines (removing activities / WBS coded for deletion which have an approved PCR / PBCP in place) and assisting the mission(s) with the subsequent clean-up of their 10YR current schedules;

  • Maintaining monthly back-up copies of P6 current and baseline schedules;

  • Performing monthly health checks on P6 current schedules, providing results to the mission(s) and assisting with resolving any errors;

  • Supporting the PMO and/or the missions(s) with generating reports for preparation and review of the Dashboard; and

  • Creating and maintaining P6 global layouts, filters, activity coding, etc.

  • Identifying and recommending improvements to any CNL-wide procedures that affects own work area;

  • Collaborating with others in developing procedural improvements utilizing innovative approaches;

  • Supporting and may participate in innovation initiatives; and

  • Supporting the development and maintenance of CNL specific hands-on project management related training, and provides training to the mission(s) on behalf of the PMO (procedures, processes, standards, templates).

  • Responding to situations to contain / mitigate short term risk in accordance with established processes and procedures;

  • Errors in judgment pose some risk to the project / program / team; regular checks and balances on work;

  • Escalating issues outside of guidelines and processes; and

  • Aware of emergency response processes and adheres to health and safety standards.



What we are looking for:



  • University degree or college diploma from an accredited school in a field relevant to Project Management, Engineering, Economics or Business Administration; and

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is considered an asset.

  • 3 - 5 years of increasing responsibility and relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and project management experience.

  • Organizational and planning skills, ability to establish priorities, define action plans, set and meet deadlines and monitor performance;

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;

  • Excellent presentation / instructional / coaching skills;

  • Effective team leadership and team-building skills;

  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team with strong interpersonal and networking skills essential to build relationships and work effectively with staff at various levels of the organization;

  • Questioning attitude with the ability to challenge assumptions and plans proposed by others in an objective and professional manner. Uses reliable sources to verify conditions, assess risks, etc.;

  • Effective and innovative problem solver with results-oriented approach and ability to motivate and expedite others;

  • Flexible and multi-task oriented;

  • Motivates others to perform to expectations;

  • Highly self-motivated with a positive attitude, and is willing to learn new skills, share experiences and take on roles of increasing responsibility;

  • Conduct effective meetings to discuss and resolve issues; and

  • Foster a cooperative working environment.

  • Knowledge of project management principles, processes and tools used to initiate, plan, execute, monitor & control and closeout projects as recognized by the Project Management Institute (PMI), and as applied at CNL

  • Knowledge of project controls areas including cost control (advanced), scheduling (advanced), WBS preparation and implementation (advanced), cost estimating (basic) and change management (advanced);

  • Knowledge of procurement and financial processes; and

  • Knowledge of project management techniques (i.e., Critical Path method, Earned Value Technique) and sound knowledge of the Primavera P6, Merlin, PCRS and Project Change Control software.





Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom

Location of Work - Remote



  • This role is based out of CNL’s Chalk River site, however the primary work location will be remote. Although this role is considered to be fully remote, presence at the Chalk River site may be needed on occasion and will be determined by the manager, based on internal client and project needs. CNL may require travel from time to time, as necessary.
