To help us pursue this mission, we are looking for a meticulous and experienced Medical Content Editor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in basic sciences or clinical medicine, combined with exceptional editing skills. In this part-time contract role, the Medical Content Editor will be responsible for ensuring that content meets our quality standards, adheres to clinical guidelines, and effectively and accurately communicates complex medical concepts simply and succinctly to our users.

What You'll Do in This Role



  • Review and edit medical content and assessment items for accuracy, clarity and clinical relevance

  • Ensure all content complies with clinical guidelines, style conventions, and norms of licensing organizations (ie. NBME, NBOME, NCCPA)

  • Collaborate with internal and external SMEs and team members to develop and refine content

  • Verify the clinical accuracy of written and video content components, images and references

  • Maintain a consistent style, tone, and voice across all medical content

  • Conduct thorough quality assurance checks for medical/scientific accuracy to identify and correct errors

  • Engage in quality improvement and review of user reports and provide scientifically sound modifications and/or responses to users

  • Manage deadlines and priorities to ensure timely delivery of content


What You'll Need to Succeed



  • Advanced degree in medicine, life sciences, healthcare or related field

  • Experience as a medical editor, or similar role

  • Mastery of medical terminology, concepts, and principles

  • Experience with teaching and assessment in a medical education setting, and familiarity with assessment item writing conventions and related organization standards (ie. NBME, NBOME, NCCPA)

  • Experience with curriculum development and curriculum mapping in the medical education setting

  • Excellent writing, editing, research, and proofreading skills

  • Familiarity with AMA/APA style guides

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

  • Competitive compensation: $60-75 per hour depending on experience. Note: this is a 1099 contract role, estimated at no more than 20 hours per week.
