About the role


We are seeking an experienced GIS Director to lead and expand GIS capabilities across North America. This senior leadership opportunity is ideal for a strategic and technically strong professional who can drive innovation, build high-performing teams and deliver scalable GIS solutions across multiple business sectors.



What You’ll Do


  • Develop and execute the North American GIS strategy, including technology, platforms, and operational standards.
  • Lead and mentor GIS teams, overseeing resource planning, performance, and professional development.
  • Drive business growth by expanding GIS services, supporting strategic pursuits, and identifying new opportunities.
  • Oversee GIS project delivery, ensuring quality, efficiency, consistency, and client satisfaction.
  • Integrate GIS with emerging technologies, including AI, data analytics, reality capture, and digital workflows.
  • Collaborate with engineering, environmental, IT, and digital teams to improve GIS capabilities and service delivery.
  • Establish best practices for GIS governance, data management, QA/QC, and risk management.
  • Build strong client relationships and provide technical leadership on complex projects.
  • Support innovation, process improvements, and the adoption of new GIS technologies.
  • Represent the GIS practice at industry events and strengthen its market presence.


What You Bring


  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive GIS experience, including 7+ years leading large teams, programs, or regional operations.
  • Experience managing GIS services within consulting, engineering, environmental, or related professional services.
  • Strong expertise in Esri technologies, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online/Portal, Field Maps, Experience Builder, and Dashboards.
  • Experience developing GIS strategies, managing enterprise platforms, and implementing standardized workflows.
  • Knowledge of AI applications, automation, data analytics, and emerging GIS technologies.
  • Strong business development, project delivery, and financial management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage change, and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship management skills.
