The Opportunity

The Production -Bobst 1st Helper prepares slotter, feed section, and die cutters.

How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock

  • Learn relevant local and company requirements, rules and procedures. Strictly follows rules and guidelines and always uses the right procedure for the job. Promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. SKNA employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.
  • Set-up slotter and feed sections on Press
  • Set-up die cut and feed sections on die cutters
  • Ensure all bolts for cutting dies are in place and tightly secured
  • Check Anilox rolls for damage
  • Assist in making accurate set-ups
  • Monitor board quality, including -- loose liner, warp, dimensions, caliper, and any other defects
  • Report board quality problems to the operator and sort as necessary to keep the machine running
  • Assist operator in other duties
  • Work at pace set by the machine operator
  • Be willing to cross-train on other machines as necessary
  • Be willing to move up the line of progression to operator regardless of shift
  • Assist in keeping area clean and organized, this includes keeping sheets off of floor
  • Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner
  • Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs
  • Perform each task in a manner which prevents bodily injury, product, and equipment damage
  • Use proper lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending techniques
  • Observe all safety and health guidelines
  • May be assigned to other projects and duties

What You Need To Succeed

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Prior work in the corrugated industry, preferred
  • 6 months of experience in the Press or Finishing Department, preferred
  • Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
  • Working knowledge of product layouts and production specifications
  • Working knowledge of product quality specifications
  • Working knowledge of quality standards
  • Capable of prioritizing multiple tasks, showing a sense of urgency
  • Able to provide and communicate sound information to Management
