Join Our Team as an Estimator, Kitchener Branch!

Maxan is looking for a detail-oriented, self-motivated, and highly technical Estimator to join our Kitchener Branch.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, Kitchener, this role will prepare accurate and competitive estimates for construction projects throughout Southwestern Ontario. We’re looking for someone who understands the region well, including its General Contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, market conditions, and construction opportunities.

You’ll work closely with our Project Management, Operations, and Estimating teams to ensure projects are properly priced and positioned for success.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare accurate and complete estimates for complex and high-value construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and tender documents to understand scope, identify risks, and evaluate opportunities.
• Complete detailed quantity take-offs and cost analyses.
• Obtain and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare final bid documents, including cost breakdowns, clarifications, and supporting documentation.
• Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, and potential cost-saving opportunities.
• Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, scope reviews, and client meetings as required.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with General Contractors, clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors throughout Southwestern Ontario.
• Collaborate with the Chief Estimator and broader estimating team to support consistent estimating practices.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction.
• Strong knowledge of the Southwestern Ontario construction market, particularly the Waterloo, Hamilton, Niagara, and London regions.
• Established relationships with General Contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, and other industry contacts in the region.
• Extensive experience estimating drywall, acoustical and specialty ceilings, architectural walls, and related interior systems.
• Experience estimating heavy-gauge exterior framing and building envelope-related scopes.
• Experience with large, complex, and high-value projects.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as Plexxis (WinBid), Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or PlanSwift.
• A related post-secondary degree or diploma is considered an asset.
• A valid driver’s licence.
