Responsibilities
- Assist with meal and snack portioning, and delivery to classrooms, ensuring food is distributed safely and on time.
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as fruit preparation, and other kitchen support duties as assigned.
- Prepare and organize meal service supplies, including bins, serving materials, and delivery carts.
- Collect dishes, utensils, and meal service equipment from classrooms.
- Wash, rinse, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, serving equipment, and food trolleys in accordance with food safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen by cleaning work areas, equipment, storage areas, and meal service items.
- Assist with organizing, storing, and rotating food products, kitchen supplies, and inventory.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, allergy-awareness, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the Cook and centre Director to support efficient kitchen operations.
- Perform other related duties as required to support the overall operation of the kitchen.
- 2+ years of experience in a Kitchen Assistant role.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Current Food Handler Certification, or willingness to obtain it.
- Experience in a daycare environment is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract.
- Strong communication skills.
- A clean criminal record check is required.
- Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 45 pounds.
