The opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Marketing the Assistant Manager Marketing will assist by analyzing sales & market trends; manage the end to end product life cycle from concept to in-market activation and support creative efforts cross-category; support the development of seasonal product strategies for market sell-in. With limited supervision, the candidate will work independently on assigned projects, but also contribute to collaborative efforts within the overall team. This role operates within a hybrid work model, requiring a 3 day presence onsite in our Mississauga office.
The role
Marketing Strategy
- Assist in the execution of marketing plans for the Canadian market to reach sales, profit and financial targets defined for the brand
- Assist in management of the product and brand portfolio
- Assist with the creation of retailer presentations to obtain their buy-in as needed in partnership with Customer Management teams
- Partner with cross-functional departments to ensure successful delivery of local market needs and effectiveness of marketing programs
- Work in close partnership with Global Marketing and product teams
- Support the Canadian team in managing the marketing budget, including invoicing process and tracking
- Adhoc analysis such as: portfolio/brands performance analysis and specific programs deep-dive, consumer trends, consumer insights, category dynamics and competitive knowledge
- Lead product Lifecycle Management process, supporting the Marketing Manager in effective product and SKU level management.
- Assist in setting up seasonal launches in the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, completing assigned workfront tasks and participating in planning meetings with international teams
- Assist in managing shipment/pos/inventory evaluation, recommendations, and monthly tracking to ensure financial and inventory goals met
- Assist in weekly meetings to track production, shipment and in DC availability
- Work with Demand Analytics team and Sales Operations teams to ensure accuracy in forecasts in order to achieve quarterly profit targets
- Work with local and global merchandising teams on product strategy as well as instore and online execution.
- Support total team by liaising with global counterparts to ensure Canadian team aware of changes/updates to global plans
- Work with Creative Services Manager to ensure brand cohesiveness across all brick & mortar doors with customization by channel, including online
- Work with Creative Services Manager to ensure brand guidelines are respected in all instore and online merchandising executions (permanent and temporary)
- Support Marketing Manager in creating product P&L’s for evaluation
- Work with Creative Services Manager to ensure perfect execution of the product and brand in-store and online
- Create agency briefs for marketing, PR, packaging, in-store visuals and support the execution in Canadian market. Present brief to senior team and collaborate with creative services team to bring brand to life in market
- Obtain packaging artwork approvals in systems, manage flow throughs on new packaging
- Monitor online stores and B&M stores to build into marketing strategy
- Build, maintain and communicate new product information forms and product sell sheets
- Plan trade activations with the Corporate Sales Managers.
- Create and update retailer presentations to support product sell-in. Work closely with Corporate Sales managers and product merchandising teams to provide samples and colors swatches for sales meetings
- Lead weekly meeting with Customer Management Group to respond to retailer/market needs, communicate plans and updates
- Collaborate on E-commerce strategy (retailer.com, pure players)
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing
- 3+ years relevant work experience in product management, brand management, retail management or direct to consumer experience
- CPG or apparel experience, a strong asset
- NPD & data analytics skills
- Results oriented and tenacity to get things done on time and on budget
- MS Office Proficiency (specifically Excel and PowerPoint)
- Analytically focused with ability to create insights from data
- Tenacity to get things done on time and on budget
- Detail-oriented, ability to execute tasks with unprompted follow-up
