Detailed Job Description

Purpose

The Human Resources Coordinator plays a role in supporting the Human Resources department’s daily operations. This position is responsible for facilitating recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and administrative functions to ensure a productive and compliant workplace.

Accountability

The incumbent reports directly to the Principal Advisor, Human Resources and collaborates closely with department managers and staff.

Responsibilities & Performance Standards

  • Complete the full recruitment and selection cycle including, advertising, screening, selection, testing, interviewing, and reference checking.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Create and manage job descriptions.
  • Organize and attend job fairs.
  • Prepare onboarding materials and conduct orientation sessions for new hires.
  • Ensure completion of employment documentation and system setup.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding HR policies and benefits.
  • Ensure adherence to labor laws and internal policies.
  • Assist in updating and communicating HR policies and procedures.
  • Organize employee engagement activities and recognition programs.

Qualifications

Education

  • Post secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • A professional designation such as CHRP or RPR would be considered an asset.

Experience

  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in the Human Resources field with direct experience in recruitment and selection.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a mining, industrial or similar field is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Strong intuitive and interpersonal skills, problem solving abilities, strong sense of urgency and collaborative skills will be essential.
  • Ability to facilitate presentations for staff training and orientation.
  • Demonstrated excellent safety attitude, performance and attendance record.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems in a logical manner.
  • Able to work under pressure and remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize effectively.

Physical Requirements

The incumbent needs to be able to:

  • handle loads up to 20 kg. in weight
  • operate a vehicle requiring a Class 5 license
  • sit for over 60 consecutive minutes
  • concentrate for over 60 consecutive minutes

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position will be on an EDO schedule where the successful candidate will work 9-hour days and get every second Friday off to help facilitate work/life balance.
  • This position is based in Grande Cache, Alberta. Please be advised there are no camp facilities available. The commute from Grande Cache is approximately 20 km on Highway 40 North. All employees who are based at the mine site will qualify for a Living out Allowance Benefit.
