On behalf of our client, Affinity is looking for a Financial Business Analyst on a six month contract to hire. While the role is Remote, we are giving preference to candidates located in the lower mainland.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research, gather information, and document business requirements
- Facilitate communication between technical teams, consulting groups, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements and their implementation
- Translate business needs into well-defined user stories with measurable outcomes and clear acceptance criteria
- Collaborate with Product Owners and internal teams to prioritize and refine backlog items
- Manage multiple concurrent features, releases, or enhancements of varying scope and complexity under tight deadlines
- Apply Agile software development principles effectively; background in technical or financial domains is an asset
- Foster strong working relationships across stakeholders, including senior leadership
- Develop and maintain documentation such as:
- User stories
- UAT scripts
- Release notes
- User guides
- Online help content
- Knowledge base articles and FAQs
- Maintain traceability of requirements throughout the development lifecycle, including change control
- Act as a liaison between development, QA, and business users to ensure solutions align with approved requirements
- Interact professionally with a diverse range of stakeholders including executives, managers, technical staff, end users, and subject matter experts
- Track tasks, resources, and budgets for small-scale initiatives
- Document business processes and assess change impacts based on solution design
- Collaborate with business sponsors to define metrics and monitor user adoption
- Proactively identify areas for improvement in user experience, quality, and system value
- Stay current with best practices and incorporate them where applicable
- Perform other duties as needed
- Strong business and financial acumen, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Post-secondary education in Business Analysis, Business, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field
- Relevant certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, or equivalent are preferred
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Self-motivated with the ability to analyze and troubleshoot requirements-related issues across all project phases
- Proven ability to deconstruct complex business problems and communicate solutions clearly
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in business analysis
- Experience across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies
- Industry experience in commercial real estate is an asset
