In keeping with the Covenant Health Group’s Mission and Values and as an integral member of the Environmental Services team, the Laundry Worker II prepares the soiled linen for washing, and loads washers and dryers following Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) standards. This position keeps records of laundry usage, communicating quota changes and extra stock requirements to the supervisor or manager, coworkers and/or suppliers. This position transports clean and dirty laundry throughout the facility maintaining usage records as required and organizes and maintains the laundry room. The Laundry Worker II is responsible for performing other related duties as required. The Laundry Worker II participates in departmental meetings and programs, participates in the training/orientation of new staff. These tasks are to be completed with minimal supervision. Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
One (1) year of experience with industrial laundry equipment, required. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, required. Intermediate computer skills, required. Ability to hear overhead pages, required. Pushing of up to 50 pounds (22.7 kg); required. Significant periods of standing, lifting, pulling, and pushing carts throughout the facility. Exposure to soiled linens which contain bodily fluids. Must be able to work in a busy and fast paced environment. Performs repetitive and routine tasks. Exposure to temperature changes in the work area. Exposure to noise. A yearly flu shot is strongly recommended.
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 preferred. Frequently required to lift weights up to 50 pounds (22.7 kg). Must possess strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadlines. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to follow directions and guidelines. High standards for cleanliness and sanitation. Demonstrates high levels of honesty and integrity. WHMIS certificate, desired.
