Overview

If you're a creator at heart and understand what makes content succeed on social media, this job could be for you.

CBC Street Cents (@streetcents) speaks to a Gen Z audience, and we're a small, collaborative team that enjoys experimenting with formats, concepts and storytelling. Our simple goal is to make money and real-life decisions make sense.

We're looking for a Toronto-based Social Media Producer & Creator to join us.

In this role, you'll help manage and grow Street Cents' social media presence through content publishing, video packaging, audience engagement and community growth. You'll also contribute by editing, filming and occasionally presenting on-camera.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Schedule and roll out content across Street Cents' social channels, with an eye for timing, platform fit and audience behaviour.
  • Write titles, captions and copy that sound like a real person wrote them.
  • Build community by showing up in comments, encouraging conversations and keeping a pulse on trends, themes and what's working.
  • Use analytics and platform data to inform what we make and how we share it.
  • Bring ideas to the table that help content reach and connect with audiences.
  • Contribute to videos through editing, filming and occasionally appearing on camera alongside our Street Cents hosts.

What You Bring

  • Fluent in Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Skilled at filming on iPhone, including capturing quality video and audio.
  • Experience managing content across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
  • Sharp writing instincts and a natural voice for captions, titles and social copy.
  • Working knowledge of discoverability, engagement and audience behaviour.
  • Comfortable and natural on camera.
  • Organized and able to manage details, processes and routines.
  • A team player who enjoys building ideas through feedback and discussion.

This role follows a hybrid work model, with a mix of in-office and work-from-home days. Candidates must be based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Experience

Three to four years of directly related experience, including demonstrated experience creating, managing and optimizing social media content for Gen Z audiences.

When applying

Include links to three recent social videos you've edited and/or helped package for social platforms. Briefly describe your role in each.

Please also include a one-minute introduction video that gives us a sense of your on-camera presence and personality. This should be informal and recorded on a phone.

Selection process

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a skills assessment, which may include an editing exercise and/or a social media content exercise.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
