We are looking for a part-time Legal Assistant to support a legal practice in Wilmington, Delaware. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent position is ideal for someone who is highly organized, precise in their work, and comfortable managing administrative and document-related tasks in a fast-paced environment. The role involves maintaining schedules, preparing routine legal materials from established formats, and helping keep case records and court submissions accurate and well organized. Schedule will start as 5 hours per day Monday - Friday.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and maintain attorney calendars, ensuring deadlines, hearings, and appointments are tracked accurately.
• Prepare and submit electronic court filings, primarily supporting bankruptcy matters and assisting with additional filings as needed.
• Organize, download, and maintain case documents so files remain current, accessible, and properly structured.
• Draft legal correspondence and standard legal documents by using approved templates and established formats.
• Communicate with co-counsel and other legal contacts to support case activity and document exchange.
• Monitor filing requirements and help ensure documents are completed and submitted in accordance with court expectations.
• Working knowledge of electronic filing procedures and court-related documentation.
• Strong calendar management skills with close attention to deadlines and details.
• Ability to organize and maintain legal files in a consistent and accurate manner.
• Experience preparing documents from templates with a high level of accuracy.
• Clear and effective communication skills for coordinating with attorneys and external legal contacts.
• Familiarity with civil litigation or court filing environments is preferred.
