The service worker in the Nephrology clinics (Alberta Kidney Care-North) is a member of the multidisciplinary team and must perform practices in accordance with AHS and AKC polices and guidelines. The position assists the clinic staff in maintaining a hygienic, well equipped clinic area that contributes to safe patient care. Position is responsible for cleaning both patient and non-patient care areas which includes waiting room, clinic rooms and clean supply area. The service worker is responsible for maintaining fully stocked clinic rooms as well as ordering supplies, including clerical supplies. The position provides assistance with patient portering as needed and the transporting of supplies to and from other units. The position may assist with some basic clerical functions such as checking in patients.
Description:
As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Current BCLS-HCP certification is required. Must be able to lift a maximum of 40 pounds several times a day. Must be able to push a bariatric patient in a wheelchair. Must be able to wear N95 masks. Must be able to sit, stand or walk for greater than 15-minute intervals.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year service worker experience in an ambulatory, outpatient, clinical setting. Previous experience in the General Nephrology or Chronic Kidney Disease Clinics. Previous Nephrology Experience. Connect Care Training. Proven experience with ordering supplies and assisting with clinic room schedules. Proven experience working in a high volume, fast paced clinical environment with multidisciplinary teams.
