Position Summary

The Buyer is responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement and supplier management process to ensure the timely, cost-effective, and reliable supply of raw materials, packaging components, and operational supplies required to support production and customer demand.


This role partners closely with Commercial Operations, Production Planning, Product Development, Quality Assurance, and Finance to execute sourcing strategies, optimize inventory, support new product commercialization, and drive continuous cost savings while maintaining supplier performance, supply continuity, and regulatory compliance.


The Buyer is accountable for supplier relationship management, purchase order execution, material planning through MRP, inventory optimization, ERP master data management, and strategic sourcing initiatives that improve cost, quality, service, and supply continuity.


Key Responsibilities

  • Source raw materials, packaging, and other production-related supplies to support production schedules, customer demand, and new product launches.

  • Manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing and supply terms, monitor performance, and identify new or alternative suppliers to support quality, cost savings, and supply continuity.

  • Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders while managing changes to quantities, pricing, and delivery timelines.

  • Support material planning and inventory optimization through MRP to ensure timely product availability and efficient stock levels.

  • Partner with Production Planning, Product Development, Quality, Commercial Operations, and Finance to support commercialization activities, supplier readiness, and ongoing operational needs.

  • Maintain accurate supplier, material, and purchasing data within the ERP system while supporting procurement compliance, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.


Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Procurement, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or materials planning in a manufacturing, food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, or similarly regulated environment is ideal.

  • Strong negotiation, supplier management, and cross-functional communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard business software.

  • Experience supporting new product launches, packaging sourcing, or commercialization activities is considered an asset.
