Junior Ski/Snowboard Tuner

Position Summary

Black Tie Ski Rentals is seeking outgoing and energetic individuals who share our love of the mountains. Our ideal candidates excel in a team environment, are self-motivated and are passionate about providing impeccable customer service.

The Junior Tuner will be responsible for maintaining the rental fleet. They will learn from and work under supervision of the Senior Tuners.

We provide an upbeat, fun, and collaborative environment. If you are hoping to be a part of a growing business where you are able to strengthen your communication and customer service skills alongside a committed team, then this is the opportunity for you!

Job Responsibilities

  • Learn how to safely and correctly use tuning machinery and tools.
  • Performing routine tuning on all rental ski and snowboard equipment.
  • Tuning includes the use of; base grinder, sanding belt, edge sharpener, p-tex gun, waxing irons amongst other tools.
  • Repair and tune rental equipment that is returned damaged.
  • Assist Senior Tuners with customer tuning as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop.
  • Translate your knowledge of tuning and our services to help diagnose and sell tuning services from our store locations.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly for long periods of time (i.e. rental equipment).
  • Must be able to stand and walk almost continually during your shift. Some of the work is physically demanding, involving heavy lifting, crouching and physical labor.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays throughout the winter season. (Please note: Senior tuning hours are evenings only from 2pm - 10pm (may be extended during busy periods). Junior tuners will initially work alongside Senior Tuners on evening shifts until they are qualified enough to work solo, from when they may do a mix of morning and evening shifts. Usually shifts are based on 7-8 hour shifts that include a 30 minute unpaid break.)
  • Use of specialist machinery that can be dangerous if used incorrectly.
  • Not a requirement but is favored: A valid driver’s license and clean driving record, and a commitment to maintaining that during the winter season.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, shovel, and assist other departments
  • Ski/Snowboard equipment experience is preferred, but not required.

  • Hourly rate plus tips
  • Pay Frequency: Biweekly
