Reports To: Hana Hamilton, Youth Programs Director

Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt

Location: Golden, Colorado (Hybrid/Field-Based)

Salary Range: $50,000 – $55,000 annually

Start Date: Late May, 2026

Position Summary

The Youth Programs Manager is responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of core youth education programs for the Colorado Mountain Club. This includes managing school-based and contracted programs, supporting summer camps, overseeing teen internships, supervising instructors, and coordinating expedition-based experiences.

The Manager also supports program operations, logistics, budgeting, and partnerships to ensure all programs are safe, educational, mission-driven, and delivered at the highest standard.

Primary Responsibilities

  • School & Contracted Programs
  • Develop and manage partnerships with schools and community organizations
  • Coordinatelogistics, curriculum, staffing, and scheduling for programs
  • Manage contracts, invoicing, waivers, and program communication
  • Ensure programs align with both CMC mission, goals, and partner requirements
  • Summer Camp Operations
  • Support, scheduling, and execution ofkey aspects of summer day and overnight camps
  • Support hiring, training, and supervision of seasonal staff and volunteers
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, safety, and operational standards
  • Assist with camp logistics, communication, and participant coordination
  • Teen Internship Program
  • Support implementation of teen internshipprogramsfocused on leadership and outdoor skills.
  • Assist with intern onboarding, mentorship, and integration into programs
  • Instructor Training & Leadership
  • Support training and development of instructors in outdoor leadership and youth engagement
  • Assist with scheduling, communication, and program support
  • Provide ongoing feedback tomaintaininstructional quality
  • Manage a high-functioning team who can work autonomously in the field
  • Vehicle Management
  • Support scheduling, maintenance, and safe use of program vehicles
  • Ensure compliance with CMC policies and safety guidelines
  • Volunteer Coordination
  • Recruit, onboard, and manage volunteers supporting youth programs
  • Coordinate scheduling, communication, and engagement
  • Support trainings and maintain volunteer records
  • Expedition/Overnight Program Development
  • Overseeplanning and coordination of overnight and expedition-style programs
  • Handle logistics, permits, communication, and trip preparation
  • Ensure trips meet safety and risk management standards
  • Program Operations & Administration
  • Maintainprogram schedules, tracking systems, and documentation
  • Work within budget on purchasing, invoicing, and expense tracking
  • Assist with grant tracking and program reporting as needed
  • Coordinate equipment, inventory, and program logistics

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Recreation, Environmental Science, or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in outdoor or youth program management
  • Experience managing a team.
  • WFA Certification (or higher wilderness medicine) or willingness to complete training.
  • Strong organizational and logistical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple programs and priorities simultaneously
  • CPR/First Aid required; WFR/WFA preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Mostly an office role with some field work.
  • Field-based work involving outdoor terrain in varied weather conditions
  • Physical demands include hiking, backpacking, lifting gear, and prolonged standing
  • Some evening, weekend, and overnight work required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual Salary: $50,000 – $55,000,commensuratewith experience
  • Benefits: health and dental insurance, 3% retirement match, paid time off and gear discounts
