As directed by the Shop Supervisor the lead hand coordinates and performs the activities of fabricating and assembling products such as overhead doors, springs, and hardware for custom job orders. The lead hand also is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory in the warehouse and service and install vans using the software tools supplied.

Duties
- Lead hand interprets work orders and templates, schedules and coordinates activities with other work units or departments
- Cutting and assembling overhead door sections as required.
- Picking hardware orders, assembling track packages and packing to the requirements of our technicians and external customer requirements.
- Liaisons with the applicable supervisors, project managers, and coordinators
- Maintain strict control over inventory levels in order to meet internal and external demand of product
- Assists in providing direction and instruction to staff in a professional and respectful manner
- Assists in organizing and coordinating the workflow for the welders and any shortage of materials in the shop
- Maintains all shop office procedures which include filing, take-offs and ordering of supplies
- Assists in resolving work-related problems and prepare and submit progress and other reports to the shop supervisor
- Proficient in all pertinent areas of the computerized order entry system
- Transports raw material and finished products using a forklift
- Assists in training workers in job duties, safety procedures and company policies or send to applicable person for training
- Quality control measures should be communicated and verified at each stage of production
- Follows all safety policies including wearing appropriate safety attire at all times
- Ensures a clean work area and equipment
- Operates equipment such as welders, grinders, jigsaws, drills, drill presses, punches as well as various hand tools
- Ability to read templates and work orders

- Experience in reading job orders and technical specifications
- Welding experience required
- Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Work, Outlook etc.) and Business Central WMS
- Forklift operator experience (Company will license)
