Key Responsibilities
- Design roof and floor truss systems using industry-standard software (e.g., MiTek, etc.)
- Interpret architectural drawings, engineered plans, and specifications
- Ensure truss designs meet building codes, load requirements, and safety standards
- Optimize designs for cost efficiency, manufacturability, and structural integrity
- Coordinate with sales, production, and installation teams
- Provide technical support to customers, framers, and builders
- Review and revise designs based on engineer or customer feedback
- Maintain accurate documentation and design records
Required:
- 3+ years (Intermediate) or 7+ years (Senior) experience in truss design
- Proficiency in truss design software (MiTek or similar)
- Strong understanding of structural loads, lumber properties, and building codes
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Diploma or degree in Engineering Technology, Construction, or related field
- Experience with local Alberta building codes and practices
- Experience in multi-family or commercial projects
