About The Position
Reporting to the Team Leader, the Loader is responsible for but not limited to:
- Identify the pieces to go on the load based on load summaries provided and select the appropriate trailer based on transportation requirements.
- Build loads onto the trailers taking into consideration size/length, weights of the pieces and Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and regulations.
- Rig, hoist and move material safely onto the trailer. Operate cranes to safely and efficiently place steel pieces on the trailer.
- Apply dunnage to properly secure the pieces.
- Ensure safe work practices are adhered to and appropriate PPE is worn at all times.
- Ensure all paperwork matches the Bill of Lading.
- Identify the piece mark of each piece being loaded and itemize the piece in the correct column accurately identifying which trailer that piece went on.
- Ensure all pieces on the load are accounted for in the paperwork associated with that trailer.

- Knowledge of transportation requirements and load building including proper blocking and dunnage placement.
- Understanding of weight balance and center of gravity.
