Project Coordinator
Duration: 1-year contract; potential to extend
Location: San Diego, CA (100% onsite)
Pay Range: $25-$30/hr
We are seeking a Project Coordinator to support a fast-paced pre-construction environment within a major Southern California utility. This role sits at the intersection of project scheduling, SAP coordination, and cross-functional stakeholder communication, ideal for a self-starter with a construction background who thrives in a dynamic, team-oriented setting.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will provide project management support and coordination across the pre-construction department. Key responsibilities include:
- Support project managers with scheduling, documentation, and project plan updates
- Coordinate and issue jobs within SAP; maintain workflow accuracy across Production and Finance modules
- Work cross-functionally with internal groups to schedule pre-construction activities and ensure jobs remain on track
- Serve as a point of contact for project managers, planners, and customers via phone and email
- Interpret construction sketches and read electrical metering as needed
- Prepare status reports, presentations, and project documentation
- Assist with information collection, data validation, and reporting
- Maintain and update project tracking logs and coordinate scheduling through Nexus
Essential Job Duties and Functions
- Update and manage project plans and scheduling calendars
- Facilitate communication and training across project stakeholders
- Identify and troubleshoot scheduling or coordination issues proactively
- Maintain accurate logs, trackers, and documentation in Excel and project systems
- Support stakeholder alignment to keep jobs moving through the pre-construction pipeline
- Perform basic data entry, validation, and reporting tasks as assigned
Knowledge and Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel - reports, formulas, logs
- Working knowledge of MS Project, Visio, and Word
- SAP experience preferred (Production or Finance modules)
- Familiarity with Nexus or similar project tracking platforms a plus
- Ability to read construction sketches and interpret electrical metering
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking ability
- Team-oriented with ability to work independently
- Construction or utilities industry background preferred
Education and Experience
- High school diploma required
- Bachelor's degree a plus
- Prior experience in project coordination, construction, or utilities preferred
