As a key member of the sales team, the VP, Business Development is responsible for managing and deepening national customer relationships. This role focuses on strengthening strategic partnerships, driving business growth through high-value engagement, and leveraging data-driven insights to enhance the customer experience. By developing and tailoring customer strategies, the VP, Business Development will drive prudent market share growth, foster long-term customer loyalty, and establish a sustainable competitive advantage.

Here is where you will be focusing to ensure your success

Relationship Management & Customer Engagement

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to strengthen partnership with national customers, ensuring long-term value creation.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to lenders, understanding their business objectives and providing tailored solutions to enhance their mortgage operations and originations.
  • Lead relationship management efforts, including executive engagement, business reviews, and strategic collaborative initiatives.

Sales Planning & Business Growth

  • Identify and capitalize on growth opportunities with existing and new lender relationships to drive revenue and market share.
  • Develop and execute data-driven sales strategies, leveraging industry insights and customer analytics.
  • Collaborate with Regional Sales and cross-functionally to align sales initiatives with broader business goals and market trends.

Data Analytics & Market Insights

  • Utilize data analytics to assess lender performance, portfolio trends, and risk profiles, providing strategic recommendations.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, legislative and regulatory changes, and competitor activities to inform business decisions and lender engagement strategies.
  • Translate data into actionable insights for both lender partners and internal stakeholders.

Customer-Centric Approach

  • Champion a customer-first mindset, ensuring a seamless and value-driven experience for lenders.
  • Gather and act on customer feedback to drive continuous improvement in service, policy and product offering, and overall engagement.
  • Partner with Regional Sales, Underwriting, Risk, and Sales Enablement to develop customized solutions that meet lender needs.

What We Are Looking For

  • 10+ years’ experience in business development, relationship management, or sales leadership within the mortgage or financial services industry.
  • Expertise in consultative relationships management and an ability to effectively influence senior-level decision-makers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proven customer centric and proactive relationship builder with a strong business acumen, analytical mindset, and a consultative approach to strategic sales planning and execution.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with Regional Sales, Underwriting, Risk, Sales Enablement, and Marketing to align business strategies and deliver customer-centric solutions.
  • Deep understanding of mortgage default insurance, mortgage lending practices, and risk management principles.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze complex data and translate insights into strategic business opportunities and delivering top-line results.
  • Experience working with CRM systems, data analytical tools, and reporting platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority relationships and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills in both English and French is required.
  • University degree is preferred.
