Early-stage founding opportunity

Position: Founding Scientist & Technical Co-Founder

Company: Auvrix Energy

Location: Greater Toronto Area (Hybrid)

Are you interested in helping build a Canadian deep-tech venture and playing a defining role in its future direction?

Auvrix Energy is seeking an experienced technical leader to join the company as a Founding Scientist & Technical Co-Founder. Working directly alongside the Founder & CEO, this role will help establish the scientific, technical, and commercial foundation of the business while contributing to the identification, evaluation, and development of high-value technology opportunities.

As a federally incorporated Canadian venture currently in the research, validation, and team-building stage, Auvrix is at a pivotal point in its development. The company is founder-led and is looking for a technical partner to help shape its long-term vision, technical strategy, research priorities, and commercialization pathway. This role provides a unique opportunity to help establish the scientific and technical foundation of an emerging Canadian deep-tech venture and contribute to its long-term growth, commercialization strategy, and future technology portfolio. The successful candidate will have the ability to influence the direction of the company from an early stage and help transform promising technical opportunities into commercially meaningful technologies and businesses.

What will you be doing?

  • Collaborate closely with the Founder & CEO to define Auvrix Energy's technical vision, research priorities, and long-term commercialization strategy.
  • Evaluate scientific and engineering opportunities related to advanced materials, reliability, and extreme-environment technologies.
  • Help identify high-value technical challenges with meaningful commercial potential.
  • Establish the company's technical foundation, including research frameworks, development priorities, and future technology roadmaps.
  • Build relationships with universities, research institutions, laboratories, industry partners, and technical advisors.
  • Support future intellectual property development, technology assessment, and product development initiatives.
  • Represent Auvrix Energy in technical discussions with researchers, industry stakeholders, investors, and strategic partners.
  • Provide technical leadership and strategic recommendations to support company growth and long-term value creation.
  • Help recruit and build the future scientific and engineering team as the company expands.
  • Work alongside the Founder & CEO to transform promising technical opportunities into commercially viable technologies and businesses.

Education, Experience, Skills & Abilities

  • Approximately 7–15 years of relevant industry, research, product development, or technology commercialization experience.
  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD preferred) in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in industrial R&D, advanced technology development, product development, innovation, or commercialization-focused environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical opportunities from both a scientific and commercial perspective.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Advanced Materials
    • Failure Analysis
    • Corrosion & Coatings
    • Reliability Engineering
    • Thermal Management
    • Extreme-Environment Systems
    • Advanced Manufacturing
    • Energy Technologies
    • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

    Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is ambitious, execution-oriented, and motivated by the opportunity to build rather than maintain. They are excited by challenging technical problems, understand the importance of commercialization, and are interested in helping create long-term value through innovation, technology development, and market impact. This opportunity is best suited for individuals who are energized by ownership, growth, and the challenge of building a deep-tech company from the ground up.

    Compensation & Equity

This is an early-stage founding opportunity within a federally incorporated Canadian deep-tech venture currently in the research, validation, and team-building stage. As the company has not yet secured institutional funding, compensation and equity participation will be discussed with qualified candidates based on experience, level of involvement, anticipated contributions, and long-term commitment to the venture. Any formal appointment will be subject to customary company agreements and documentation.

    Founding Opportunity

Auvrix Energy welcomes expressions of interest from experienced technical professionals who are interested in helping shape and build a Canadian deep-tech venture from an early stage.
