Pay Rate: $18.00
Major Duties/Specific Tasks
- Implement programs based on standards of learning and scout badge requirements on local flora and fauna.
- Interact with the public at a variety of NOVA Parks sites to include waterparks, campgrounds, summer camps, fall festival, light shows, and other special events.
- Interpret, care for, and handle live animals.
- Answer questions and facilitate nature encounters.
- Create and update program plans.
- Enter programs in Active Network.
- Use NOVA Parks tools to create marketing materials to include flyers, social media, and web events.
- Document participation and other record keeping.
- Perform other related work as required.
- At least two years of education in some natural resource field.
- General knowledge of biology and ecology.
- At least a basic knowledge of flora and fauna of Northern Virginia.
- Ability to identify native plants and invasives.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the public and staff members.
- Ability to prepare and present accurate reports.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Availability to work additional hours during peak operating times, holidays, nights and weekends.
- Possession of or ability to obtain valid VA driver’s license.
- Certification or ability to obtain certification in CPR and first aid and AED.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.
