Reporting to the Mine Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting daily accounting operations, processing transactions, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role is well-suited for someone who is organized, analytical, and interested in growing their accounting career. The Accounting Assistant will work locally on a 5-2/4-3 schedule.
The Focus Of This Role Will Include
- Process invoices, payments, and expense reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain and update accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
- Prepare and process bank deposits.
- Reconcile bank statements and vendor accounts.
- Assist with data entry into accounting software and spreadsheets.
- Help prepare monthly financial reports and statements.
- Maintain filing systems for financial documents and records.
- Assist in the preparation of payroll.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Support internal audits and assist with inventory tracking or petty cash, as needed.
- Perform general administrative and clerical duties as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary education in Accounting or Business Administration is preferred).
- 1–2 years of experience in a similar accounting or clerical role (co-op/internship acceptable).
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Mining operations experience is highly preferred
- Able to interpret, apply and explain applicable laws, codes, regulations and ordinances
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly with Excel
- Demonstrated knowledge of accounting software
- Ability to work well in a team.
