Job Summary

Provide custodial care and cleaning of residential student housing facilities, including residence halls and common living areas. Perform more complex and specialized cleaning activities to support safe, sanitary, and occupant-ready living environments.

Based on the recent Proclamation: Restriction on Entry of Certain Nonimmigrant Workers (H-1B), VSU will not be sponsoring any new H-1B visa petitions until further notice.

Responsibilities

There are 10 available positions.

Typical Allocation of Duties:

Perform Custodial Services in Residential Facilities - 35

Perform general custodial services within residence halls, including occupied and vacant rooms, restrooms, kitchens, and common areas. Clean and sanitize surfaces, floors, furniture, and fixtures to maintain safe and livable conditions.

Perform Deep Cleaning and Room Turnover - 25

Perform detailed cleaning of residential spaces during room turnover periods, including deep cleaning of rooms, bathrooms, and shared spaces. Prepare rooms for new occupants in accordance with institutional standards.

Special Projects and Moving Support - 15

Assist with special cleaning projects, including large-scale cleaning efforts, seasonal projects, and movement of furniture related to housing operations and student transitions.

Operate Equipment - 10

Operate custodial equipment (e.g., floor buffer, carpet cleaner, and other specialized tools) to support cleaning and maintenance of residential facilities.

Inspect Work Areas and Identify Needs - 10

Inspect assigned areas to identify cleaning needs, sanitation concerns, or deficiencies. Take appropriate action to address issues or ensure areas meet established standards.

Notification of Needed Repairs - 5

Identify and report maintenance or repair needs observed in residential facilities to appropriate personnel.

Required Qualifications

Required Experience

High school diploma and one (1) year of related work experience.

Proposed Salary

$14.48/hr ($30,115/annual)
