The Legal Aid Society is seeking a licensed Florida attorney to join our Family Law Team in a fully remote role. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality legal advice, counseling, and brief services to low-income and vulnerable individuals who otherwise have limited access to legal assistance.
Using your family law experience, you will deliver immediate and substantive support to clients through advice and brief services, helping individuals navigate critical legal issues with compassion, professionalism, and efficiency. This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys direct client interaction, problem-solving, and meaningful public service work without the demands of extensive litigation.
This position is fully remote.
Illustrative Duties
- Serve as a trusted resource for clients by providing high-quality legal advice and brief services via telephone and other remote communication platforms.
- Conduct detailed client interviews to assess legal needs, with a primary focus on family law matters.
- Evaluate client income and program eligibility in compliance with Legal Aid and grantor requirements.
- Identify cases that may require extended representation and, when appropriate, coordinate referrals to Legal Aid staff attorneys or outside legal partners.
- Provide legal research, advice, and brief services for matters that do not require ongoing representation, including drafting correspondence and providing self-help materials.
- Review and analyze documents submitted by applicants and clients.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the organization’s case management system.
- Assist with the development and revision of legal advice templates, educational materials, and brief service resources.
- Connect clients with appropriate community resources and social service agencies to support their broader needs.
Compensation begins at $60,000 and based upon experience, plus bonus and salary adjustments. EXCELLENT benefits worth substantial financial value.
