Working with the Town of Newmarket’s Recreation and Culture Team, means the opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community! The Successful Candidate Will
- Supervise participants that come to the Recreation Youth Centre and telMAX Indoor Skate Park to make sure they are safe and enjoying their time.
- Answer questions or assist when someone needs help. Whether it is a participant or a parent, you will direct them to the right person or help solve their concerns.
- Hand out equipment and lobby games to patrons and ensure they are using them correctly. Assist with set for programs and rentals, as well as cleaning up the program areas and reporting any issues to the Youth Centre Director.
- Perform first aid and fill out Incident/Accident forms when needed.
- Encourage active participation from participants during Drop-ins.
- Assists with organizing and running special events and programs as needed.

- One to three or more years’ experience working with children and youth.
- Current certifications such as Counsellor in Training Program, Babysitting Course, National Coaching Certification Program or equivalent
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the general public, participants, parents/guardians of participants and staff.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, instructional, written and program delivery skills.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends and special events.
- Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification required.
- Current High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development certification required.
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification or Safe Management certification an asset.
Disclaimer: Candidates whose Standard First Aid certification expires after June 22, 2026 must renew their certification through a WSIB-approved provider and obtain the new Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C certification at candidates own cost.
