The Opportunity

Position: Janitor Staff and Maintenance Assistant

Employment Type: Permanent

Employment Level: Entry

Location: Teeswater, Ontario, Tiverton, Ontario and Kincardine, Ontario

Department: Nuclear Materials Management

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Hours per week: 40 hours per week, this is a shift worker position. Shift workers may be assignment 8, 10, 12 hour shifts, days, afternoons, nights including weekend work. Field Work, Rotating Shifts and overtime may be required.

Starting Salary: $43,372 Exact compensation may vary depending on the individual experience and qualifications of each candidate. Applicants with greater or less than the minimum qualifications for this posted opportunity may be considered for alternate opportunities.

Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact

  • Perform all duties in a safe manner in compliance with Kinectrics policies and procedures
  • Responsible for providing multiple facilities support of janitorial, housekeeping, garbage / recycling collection and clean-up needs
  • Various routine tasks related to cleaning and housekeeping of work areas
  • Assist in maintaining janitorial inventories, washroom, and changeroom supplies re-order as required and re-stock Janitor rooms once received
  • Assist with the ordering and receiving of janitorial or other facility supplies
  • Provide lawn maintenance, snow shoveling, salting / sanding, parking lot clearing as required.
  • Refill water stations
  • Perform Weekly check of Eye-Wash Stations (10 in total) and Defibrillators (5 in total)
  • Fill in checklists provided for daily/weekly/monthly routines
  • Support team with monthly Inventory Counts such as Spare Parts and Consumables
  • Perform other duties as required

What You Need To Succeed

  • Completion of High School preferred
  • Prior janitorial experience preferred
  • Experience with workplace organization and safety standards is an asset
  • Ability to work in an industrial plant environment includes standing for extended period, crouching, kneeling etc.
  • Prepared to work flexible hours from time to time
  • Must be able to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events
  • Self-motivated
  • Must have strong prioritizing and time management skills
  • Ability to successfully obtain and maintain valid nuclear site security clearance

This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.
